It is the middle of summer and I am sitting beneath an old oak tree. Waiting for Jonathan, whom might I add was running extremely late. I begin to hum an a random melody knowing his father is likely the reason for his tardiness.

"I am searching and chasing after you have. I'm doing all that you said to do. There is no hiding that time's lost with us. I'm trying my hardest but can't seem to cope. I hope your much better then you were before. I'll keep wishing on stars and counting my blessings. And wont be discouraged every failures a lesson. I know the world is going up in flames."
I sing building in volume.

Standing and brushing the dirt from my day dress. I walk over to the edge of the hill, I shake my head seeing Jon sprinting up. We usually meet once or twice a day at this spot. I walk back to the tree sliding back into my spot and pick up my book. Flipping to my saved page I read waiting for Jon to reach me.

"You're late Jon." I say not bothering to look up as he reached the top of slope.

"Sorry, my Father decided it was time for me to attend the war meetings."

"I wonder if he's ever listened to you sometimes." I ponder aloud shutting my book and looking up at him.

"He's a good man. You know that. He just can't see that there are multiple alternatives."

"Let's be brutally honest here it's simply because my Father continues to give him no other option. You're Fater has petitioned for peace between our lands. Even then my Father makes us watch as he tears up the Peace Treaty." I say with a long sigh.

"Yes, and he will listen to nothing you all say. Even your Mother has grown weary of the continuous fighting."

"She has lost two brothers and a son at my Fathers command. She's tired of his tyranny as she claims it."

"So do you think you can trust her?" He asks finally settling beside me plucking the book from my hand.

"I'd like to think so, but I've seen her love for her husband win out more than once. In saying that I believe it's best if we leave her out of all of this until I can be completely sure."

"That sounds fair."

We talk and play until we fall flat on our backs looking up at the sky. Too tired to talk anymore we sit in a comfortable silence. About ten minutes pass before I hear light snoring. Glancing over I see him fast asleep with his hair hanging over his eyes. I giggle quietly playing in his silky curls. I'm stopped when his hand shoots up gripping my wrist tightly.

He looks up at me from beneath his hair. Emerald and gold swirling around in his irises. Understanding the situation he releases my hand quickly turning away and sitting up. He rubbed his face shaking his head and mumbling something I couldn't make out.

Suddenly he looked directly at me and after staring  at me for a while he got up. Once he'd wiped off his pants he held his hand out for me to take. Sliding my hand into his my face flushed and I could only hope that it wasn't noticeable.
