Butter

"Can we go to the ice skating rink?" Red asks, giving me a look similar to the puppy eyes.

"I thought you already went there before." Betty beats me in asking indirectly why we need to go back to that place.

"Last time, I skated alone while Butter was busy with Glitterpie." Red pouts and I pinch her lips gently.

"Someone was jealous." I say. Betty chuckles but Red squints her eyes at me, clearly not liking what I just said. "Betty, to the ice skating rink."

"Aye aye captain!" If Betty is a real chipmunk, I would imagine her as Brittany of The Chipettes.

Seems like when Betty is on the ground she's a normal car traveling at a normal speed.

"Have fun Buttered!" Betty says, which makes Red laugh and I am bewitched. She has never laughed like that before, throwing her head backwards and kicking her legs. Is it very funny? But I find myself grinning. Her laugh is infectious.

"Can't you think of another ship name?" I ask.

"You prefer Redbutt?" Betty chuckles and Red laughs even more, wiping the tears on her eyes.

"If you don't stop laughing I'll kiss you." Red looks more charming when she laughs and I am tempted to silence her with my lips.

She stops abruptly and gives me a shocked expression. The glint in her eyes says she doesn't believe that I'm serious. So when she laughs again, I smash my lips to hers. Her eyes widens and tries to push me but then a few seconds later she's closing her eyes and kissing me back.

"Go out or I will really eject you both." Betty startles us. I run my thumb to Red's swollen lips and she does the same to mine. "It's getting hot in here. You need to cool down outside. Now!"

We are both laughing when we get out of the car but the cold breeze hitting our face makes us stop. I hold her hand as we walk leisurely to the ice skating rink.

"I'm yours the entire night. Do whatever you want. My attention is all yours." I say, remembering the first time we were here. Glitterpie was really all over me and I didn't get the chance to skate with Red until we decided to leave them.

Red's expression is a mixture of playful and shyness. She smirks but not meeting my eyes. "You should be, 'coz you belong with me."

Chuckling, I poke her nose. "So are you." She scrunches her nose as I pull her to my chest. Red in my arms is my definition of contentment like everything I want in life is here, right at this moment.

For the next thirty minutes, our laughter echoes in the rink, making the other skaters glance at us with amusement. We race, play tug and glide on the ice while holding each other's hands. The happiness I am feeling right now is like a new word added to my dictionary, ditching the old meaning.

Damn. Why does it have to end at midnight? Melancholy slowly makes its way to my nerves.

"Earth to Butter," Red says, tapping my arm. "Hey, where did you just go?"

"Sorry. Did you say something?"

"I was asking if you want to leave now."

"Sure, where do you want to go next?"

Red opens her mouth then closes it. She searches for my eyes, looking rather reluctant. "Hmm, I was thinking, hmm, maybe we can..." her voice trails off and I cock my head to the left, waiting for her to continue. "I was thinking if we can hang out in my room?" When she finishes what she wants to say, her face is already pinkish.
