"I am afraid," she admitted in a whisper, "if I have this child, you will despise me for the rest of our lives."
Both of his hands cupped either one of her cheeks. His eyes bored into hers intensely to prove his...

" N O W , W H E R E on God's green earth do you believe you are going?" Queen Dione bellowed as she entered the stables, witnessing her youngest son mounting on top of his horse with his armor on.
He grabbed the reins with his leather gloved hands, looking down at his mother apologetically.
"He knows," he said in reference to his older brother. "He knows it was father who attacked Louelle."
She clutched her hand over her heart, a look of horror washing over her facial features.
"Thatcher had gone on the excursion with the king's guard, with plans to end father's life. I have to save him before he does something he will regret," Dane explained.
His heart was pounding as adrenaline began to set course through his veins. He wasn't certain on what he would run into out there, but in his bones, he could tell that it was nothing of good nature. When he was living in France, he trained with the other princes and the strongest guards. Although he had enough training, he still didn't think it would be good enough to counteract the king.
He always thought it to be a rumor that King James hired men to fight against, and often he ended up killing them because he won the match. Even if it had been just a silly rumor, castle folk and the like more than likely made up, he still did not put that past the king.
He was often a mad man, more than not.
"Mother, you cannot stop me," Dane informed her as his hands tightened even more over the reins he held. The leather gloves made it difficult for him to grip, but he needed them for fighting. He learned in France that swords often caused calluses quite painful to bear.
He pleaded with the queen with his eyes. "He is planning on ending the king's life with witnesses around. I must stop him before he is charged with treason."
Queen Dione stepped closer to her son's horse. She placed her hand overtop of its snout, petting it lovingly.
"I will not stop you," she said. "But please be careful. I will need both of my sons home safely."
He grimly nodded his head before kicking the sides of his horse to move. Then, he was off to save his brother so they could return home. He only hoped he wasn't too late.
