Chapter 4

TW: Mentions of rape, death, and  a very annoyed Rita Santos

Mimmi swam to the Moon Pool wanting to see Ondina. Despite she had spoken with Rita there was something nagging at her, telling her something was still wrong.

Rita had said once she didn't know that she and Zac were related. But in the end, they were, and she knew.

Rita wouldn't lie to her again...

Run.

Was the first thing that came to mind once Rita digested what had happened.

So, she had done just that.

Now she walked quickly to her office, having got caught up in a conversation with another teacher. She was supposed to be meeting with Dr. Blakely and a new teacher for the science department.

Standing in front of her office door were said people.

She opened the door giving a small apology for being late, not paying much attention to the new teacher. She sat at her desk after shutting her door and the two men sat down. Only then she got a good look at the new teachers face.

It was the man who marked her at the bar.

Shit.

Adrian couldn't do anything but stare at the women before him, completely zoning out the man next to him.

He had marked her and the first thing she did was run.

He felt both anger and shock as she left.

Now here she was.

"Principal Santos this is the new science teacher Adrian North. He will be of assistance to Ms. Trumble for a few weeks before taking his own class. Mr. North meet Rita Santos, the school principal."

Dr. Blakley introduced them having no idea of the events that happened last Saturday night.

"Pleasure to meet your Mr. North" Rita said as she shakes his hand with a small forced smile.

"Like wise"

"Well Mr. North has already been given his tour. If there is anything you need, I am a phone call away. Now I am afraid I must get going."

Giving them both a smile, Dr. Blakley left. Leaving an awkward silence between the remaining pair.

"Care to explain what the hell you did to me the other day"

Rita's voice remained calm although there was a hint of anger in it.

"I honestly have no idea and you left before I could get a look. But I believe I claimed you."

"Claimed me" Gone was the calm collected voice, it was replaced by one filled with rage.

Only two minutes into this conversation and Rita already felt like she wanted to slap this man back to wherever he had come from.

"Yes, claimed you, which shouldn't have happened unless..." Adrian's voice trailed off not wanting make accusations.

"Unless what" Rita snapped.

Moving quickly, Adrian grabbed a glass of water sitting on the desk and threw it on her.

Rita froze, in both fear and anger. First the audacity of this man to say her had supposedly claimed her like some animal. And second because he threw water on her, now what.

Their eyes meet and Rita turned falling to the floor.

She propped herself on her elbows glaring at him.

"I wouldn't have claimed- marked you, if you weren't a mermaid." Adrian corrected his words seeing the redhead's glare harden.

"Which I'm guessing makes you a merman."

"Correct" His sudden cheeky tone fueled her anger slightly.

Now standing she dusted herself off.

"How, I thought Mermans lived till 20"

"Well, that princess is a lie"

"Don't call me that"

"Call you what" Now he was annoying her.

"Princess. Don't call me princess"

"Well, why not. You're as pretty as one" He gave her his best smirk.

She scoffed and sent him out her office.

Aurora walked into her bedroom surprised that Rita hadn't gotten rid of her things.

When Rita with Harry first moved in, she made it clear that her brother and sister would have a room. Since the house was quite big for two people much less one. Although originally three people had moved in.

Rita, Harry and their two-year-old daughter Katerina.

Aurora let a sad smile appear on her face. While she did want power. She wasn't heartless, and was very close to her late niece.

Both Harry and Katerina passed when she had crossed someone and in return, they harmed the people she cared about the most.

Her sister and her small family.

Katerina was 6 and Harry and Rita were supposed to have been married two weeks later.

It was a tough time for the two sisters. Rita blamed her and honestly, she couldn't blame her.

They had attacked the small family and brutally killed Harry in front of Rita. They gave Katerina a quick death. Although they didn't stop there, after beating Harry they assaulted Rita.

She wouldn't let anyone touch her for almost a year unless she fully trusted them, which wasn't a lot of people.

They left her scared, even now she still suffered.

Their brother also blamed her.

Shooing away the dark thoughts Aurora lied in her bed, falling fast asleep.

Deniz watched Nerissa. He watched as she followed a teenage mermaid his mind somehow managed to recognize.

Noticing the direction, she was going he followed. Nerissa also following.

In hopes she could lead them to the place that would reunite them with their families.
