! so uh, sorry for this but i'm going to make a prospective shift from first to third !
It's been a few moons since RainPaw had become a medicine apprentice, she had yet to go to a gathering, until tonight.
"Hey, HailSpark! Glad your coming to the gathering tonight." RainPaw called out to the ginger splotched tom.
"I'm glad to! Heh, I can show that snobby NightClan apprentice who became a warrior first!"After what seemed like forever, the time had finally come, she was going to a gathering.
Weaving through brambles and leaping over logs, she and the rest of her clan were almost at the center of the forest. And with a final burst from the underbrush, they were there, second OF COURSE, to NightClan. They really do look snobby as stars, he wasn't lying. With a shift of her head, she caught a glimpse of OwlStar leaping up the Grand Fir, settling on the branch next to CloudStar.
A loud collective of yowls signaled WildClans arrival.
"I heard SmokeWeed from is giving catnip for a few mouse tails."
Almost screeching from fear among her clan mates, the young apprentice turned around to see the familiar face of HailSpark.
"Oh my, stars, you almost scared the life out of me! Wait why do they want mouse tails?"
"I dunno, I think they made some worth to em' I heard the give stuff in exchange for them and vice versa. So weird"
Something is off, maybe it's just how gatherings feel... Who are those cats climbing the back of the tree? Are they performers?
RainPaw and HailSpark jerk their heads towards the Great Fir as the gathering finally starts.
"NightClan will go first," CloudStar announced. "We have two new warriors, YellowPelt, and SwiftRun..."
HailSpark gave a gasp of horror as the leaders speech faded into the background. "W-what's wrong?" RainPaw questioned the shocked tom.
"That damned SwiftRun became a warrior too."
"Is that really what your shocked about?" But it was too late, the orange spotted tom was already giving the new warrior a death glare. Suddenly screeching was heard all around her. Four large cats had ambushed OwlStar and CloudStar from above, one even had a sharpened stick clutched in their jaw.
What?! Who are they? What's going on? Why does he have a stick?
Her questions were long to be answered in the midst of the chaos. She almost got crushed as AdderStike stormed towards the attackers, tail lashing with rage. OwlStar had been thrown off his branch like a mossball was and bleeding onto a rock. Mind racing, RainPaw quickly ran to her injured leader, dodging the crazed cats.
This is his 8th life! What if he gets attacked again?!
She dragged her leaders head off the hard rock and onto the soft grass. As she looked out she saw WildClan was becoming more and more aggressive towards the others.
Who's the best fighter, I need someone to protect him
"QUAILSPOT!" RainPaw called out. Suddenly, her eyes fixated on something coming towards her, no, a WildClan warrior barreling towards her. Paralyzed with fear, RainPaw squeezed her eyes shut and braced for impact, in 3... 2... 1..... nothing. As she opened her eyes she saw QuailSpot and the warrior in the middle of a fight.
"How dare you attack a medicine cat, you traitor to StarClan!" Howled the spotted warrior, throwing the attacker away from the apprentice, claws sheathed.
"You're one to talk, you dirty halfclan."
QuailSpot growled and flicked her tail in warning. A soft paw brushes RainPaw's tail.
"Oh! You're awake, thank StarClan... Literally."
A softened chuckle followed by a cough comes from her wounded leader. Looking around, all the grey tabby could see around her was the discord of battle and a clouded moon. But after feeling a sharp pain in the back of her head, she could only see black as she fell to the ground."Hey, wake up." A rude voice rang. RainPaw looked up and saw the scowling face of MellowTail, the smell of a fresh rabbit wafted in the medicine den.
"I brought fresh kill for you because of the, uh, gathering... stuff."
"Oh, um.. Thanks MellowTail."
"Yeah, sure." The she-cat muttered as she left the den.
Slumping back down, RainPaw's memories of last night started to come back to her. When she noticed OwlStar wasn't her as well, she got nervous. When HawkWing finally came in, she questioned her.
"Hey uh, HawkWing, is OwlStar ok?"
"Oh, yes, he's fine. You should eat that rabbit, it's been a two days." The medicine cat turned from the herb shelves to answer.
TWO DAYS?! Maybe a walk will make me feel better or something.
"Uhm, I'll give this to OwlStar."
"Ok... Just make sure to eat" RainPaw nodded and went off to the leaders den.
"Thank you RainPaw." The leader purred "I'm glad to see you awake."
"Glad to see you're ok too." She said as trotting out of the den and to this middle of camp to the freshkill pile. After taking a fat vole, she found a nice spot of fleeting sun.
After eating her meal, the apprentice gazed into the sunset, calmed. Though a shocked gaze from MellowTail made her uneasy of what was in the rabbit.
