Matt's nose raised in the air as soon as he stepped through the door of your apartment. You smiled to yourself, putting the last of dinner on the table. He took his shoes off at the door and rested his cane against the wall.

"Mm, I smell my favorite meal."

He wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and smiled into your neck. You leaned back against him, letting his hands roam your exposed stomach. He took in the sweet scent of your shampoo from the shower you took together this morning.

"That's why I made it," you said, turning in his arms. He pulled you against him, trailing his hands down your back and to your ass. He rested his hands there as he leaned down to kiss you.

"I wasn't talking about dinner." Matt smirked, running his thumb across your bottom lip. Matt went to kiss you again, but you backed up, putting your hands on his chest. He frowned. "Did I do something wrong?" He could hear your heartbeat speed up, so he knew something was up. "Babe, I've been gone all day, what is it?"

"That's it," you said. You crossed your arms to kind of shield yourself. You knew Matt would never hurt you, or even threaten you, but you still felt like hiding. "Everyday, it's wake up, shower, quick kiss, wait for you to get home from work, fuck, then you leave again to do who knows what. Do you know how long it's been since we sat down and talked about our day?"

"Baby, do you realize how many people come in my office a day?" Matt took his glasses off, something he does when he thinks he's gonna get into an argument with you. "You're actually really lucky I got out today when I did."

"I hope this isn't how lucky feels."

You began to clean up the table, putting the bowls of freshly made food in the fridge while Matt silently leaned against the counter. Your words hit a deep place in his heart. He never wanted to make you feel like that. He really straightened up when he smelled your tears slip down your cheeks.

You sniffled as you grabbed a wash cloth to clean the table, though nothing had gotten on it. All you wanted to do was distract yourself from crying. It wasn't doing too well. You slammed your hands on the table when Matt came up behind you and pulled your ass against him.

"I know damn well, you have to have some kind of bond other than sex in a relationship." You turned around, holding Matt's wrists. "Who are you seeing when you leave?"

"I'm not seeing anyone." Matt shook his head. "I didn't marry you just to be with someone on the side."

"What do you call the thing with Elektra?"

"Babe, that was a mistake, I told you." Matt sighed, backing away. "My goodness, you're just trying to start an argument."

"Matt, no I'm not!" You threw your hands up. Matt flinched at the sudden raise in your voice. His ears rang.

"Please don't yell."

"Choose. If you want me to stay, decide whether you want to neglect me everyday or not," you said, grabbing your keys and slipping your shoes on. "Maybe we just need a few hours apart."

"Well, I'm leaving, too." Matt put his glasses on the table to show he would be back, just not when you get back. He walked past you without even taking his cane and shut the door behind him.
