⚠️THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS SELF HARM AND LIGHT FLUFF!⚠️
The wind blew through the square-shaped windows, blowing onto the Carmel-colored curtains that we're draped beside them. The rooms were warm and stuffy, the wind was very much needed to get rid of the stale smell and to cool down the sweaty bodies that were under the weather.
Two children lay in their beds with hot fevers and extra limbs growing out of their bodies as they breathe slowly with their mouths open. Their bodies were hot but they felt so cold. Not too long ago were the two men inside of their bedrooms with worried looks on their faces, checking their temperatures to see how they were doing.
Their bodies were changing into something that they were afraid of. Something that would be hard to restrain back from others and something that all of the others avoided becoming.
"They need some humans to eat... They're changing," the short demon said as he brushed back the female demon's hair. Cold sweat ran down the girl's head as she panted and looked up at the two men.
"We need to get them some food or they're gonna change soon... And then it'll be over..."
Many demons inside of the small town were suffering when it came to getting something to fulfill their desire when it came to food. They were getting tired of just eating leftover scraps that were thrown at them. Some complained while others kept it to themselves trying to find a way how to get by. But it can only go so far. Because there was a lack of what was needed, demons were slowly mutating into a wild beast that could not be restrained. The type where they would be at a level where it would be hard for anyone to tame or control.
The world was still as you watched the dark thick maroon-colored blood drain out of the demon's wounds, who were haunting you and the raven-haired boy. They were just chasing you down, desperately trying to get you in their hold so they could bring you back to their homes to feed the ill children. You were the cure. High-grade level children from the grace-field farm were wandering around under their noses this hold time. When they got a good wife of your scent, they knew that they had to get a hold of you.
You had to take your chance to separate from the others so they can get back to the temple safely while you and Ray lead them away.
It was either you or them.
You say that but now that you've witnessed how the event unfolded before you all so quickly made you question what was happening. It all happened so fast... It amazed you how someone could be here, alive and breathing then... gone.
Just like that, their lives were taken away from them.
You stared at the blade that was in the hand of the killer as the blood dripped down from the shiny sharp object onto the ground. It was tainted with their blood. It was their blood.
