Pt. 13 Lies

So let me tell you something. After we came home from the trip, Eren asked me to be his girlfriend, in which I said yes. It's been a week and things are great, for us at least. The whole school is not only throwing darts at me but also Eren. Are they jealous? I mean it doesn't make sense to me. But why are they going for Eren? It's just something I've been thinking about the past few days.

"Holy shit it's freezing." I said and wrapped my sweater tighter around me.

It was December now, and let me tell you, living here, it gets cold, like, really fucking cold.

"Don't worry, the heat is on in the car." Eren pulled me close and we walked to his car.

As soon as I sat in the seat I was warmer, I put a smile on my face to brighten my mood before Eren got in.

"Do you think my mom's going to be happy about us dating?" I asked after a few quiet seconds.

"No, but she can't always tell you what to do, right?" He looked at me and I thought.

"I mean no, but...no." I said and looked away.

"Then it doesn't matter. Let her cry over it for all I care." He smiled and I smiled back.

The day was bad but not as bad as the others. People still were looking at us dirty and throwing names in my face but at this point I didn't care.

"Just ignore them y/n." Eren whispered as we walked down to the cafeteria.

I squeezed his hand tighter and looked at the ground to avoid any eye contact.

"I know." I whispered back.

We sat down quickly and I scanned the large room, that was a mistake. I rolled my eyes and looked back at the table.

"Is something wrong?" Armin asked looking at my annoyed face.

"Oh um, no. There's just, too many people whispering about me still." I lied but it came easy to me.

Neither of us had told anyone anything. I told him I didn't want everyone to know and have it start unwanted drama.

"Oh ok." He said and went back to eating his lunch.

I didn't talk much, I just observed. I was happy that everyone else looked happy, which made me happier at least.

"Hey, I'm gonna steal y/n away for a second." Eren said and motioned me to follow him.

I got up and waved goodbye and walked out of the cafeteria with eyes still on us.

"Are you okay?" He whispered and I leaned my head against my locker.

"No." I said quietly and put my face in my hands.

He didn't said anything after that. All he did was pull me into a hug, and I let him. I didn't need this, neither did he, but it's hard when you don't know what to do or how to stop it.

"Ayy tomorrow's Friday!" Connie yelled when he came through the door in first period.

"I wanna go home." I looked at him and he came over and patted my shoulders.

"Don't be like that y/n, be happy." He said, shaking my shoulders. "Negativity begone." He said and slapped my hand really hard.

"Ow." I said but smiled.

"Hah. It worked." He said smugly with a grin and walked over to a desk in the corner.

Everything was okay until I got to fourth period. I heard it, this was a truth like no other that I wanted to believe was a lie so badly, but I couldn't, not until I had proof.

"I found out what happened. After the party she went into the coma. She forgot all her memories."

I spun around the corner and leaned my head against the wall. I took in a deep breath and let it out with a sigh.

The whole period I had to think of what I would say but I couldn't. I didn't know what was a lie and what was a lie that was masked as real.

"Y/n?" The teacher called and I snapped my head up.

"Yes?" I asked and examined the room, all eyes were on me.

"Are you okay." She asked concerned.

I nodded my head and she went back to the lesson.

"What was that about?" Annie asked and I looked up to her.

"Nothing. Just thinking about some rumors I heard. It's not important, I just need to think about it." I said and tried to pay attention to the board in the front of the room.

I was dreading going to lunch. To see his face. He knows something that I don't. Now that I think about it, they all might. At this point I don't know who to trust.

I grabbed my lunch quickly and basically ran to our table and sat. When I say our table, it was before everyone else was called over.

The others from my group started gathering and talking while I stayed quiet.  Mikasa came over and sat right next to me. She looked down at her plate and I waited. She didn't say anything, she just stared. She took a bite of her food then turned to Eren's table, then to me.

"So, you're dating Eren now?" She said while taking another bite.

I was hesitant at first then finally gave in. I nodded my head and took a large gulp of my tea. I turned to look at Eren who was still talking to everyone at his table across the room.

"Hmm." She hummed and nodded and looked me in the eyes. "We'll, I can't tell you what to do anymore can I?" She asked and smiled.

I chuckled a little."Nope." And looked back at everyone around us.

"Hey, just be very careful around him, alright." She said and started talking to Sasha and Connie.

Why was everyone always telling me this. "Be careful with Eren, be safe around Eren, careful with him" It's like no matter what I do around him I HAVE to be careful. I'm getting sick of it.

"Yeah, I will." I said as I stood up and started speed walking across the room, practically fuming.

"Oh Eren your lovely girlfriends here." Hange said looking at me and Eren turned in his seat. He saw that I was mad.

"Hey, Eren?" I said while sitting down, I was getting impatient already. I needed my answers and I should get them today.

"Yes, love? And are you okay?" He said and examined my face more.

"I don't know, but can I talk to you for a while? Like, alone?" I asked while looking at everyone else at the table then back at him.

"Yeah sure, whatever you need." He said and grabbed my hand before turning back to the others. "I'll see y'all later." He said and followed me out into the hallway.

I walked over to one of the benches and sat. Eren stood for a second and looked down at me before sitting.

"Are you sure you're okay. Something is definitely wrong." He said and grabbed both my hands and rubbed it with his thumbs.

"I'm not sure. But I think I will be in second, or worse. But I need you to answer what I ask you honestly. Can you do that for me?" I asked and he nodded his head.

"Now since I met you a few weeks ago, everyone has told me to be careful around you, or keep my guard up, or watch my back." I said and he nodded his head slowly.

"So, I say all of that to say."

"Have we met before?"
