Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Is it morning already? Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Ugh why? Beep. Beep. I smack my alarm clock with a vengeance as I sit up. I've had near eight hours of sleep yet I feel I could sleep a century. I force myself to sit up and focus.

Ten minutes later and I've successfully forced myself up and to my closet. I'm not stopping in the kitchen this morning for breakfast I've decided to just grab a muffin at the snack stand at School since I'll be there early. I grab my towel and head into the bathroom for a quick shower.

As I'm washing my hair I think back to yesterday. I also start thinking about how I'll be 18 on Friday. And by this time next year I'll be in college. It's strange how time can go by so slowly yet so fast.

I grab at my favorite fluffy purple towel and wrap it around myself. As I clear the mirror from the steam of my warm shower I notice how my face looks more mature. I guess I never took the time to notice I'm practically a woman. The thought is strange that soon I'll be considered one by the rest of the world.

As I finish my bathroom routine and leave my hair down to dry with product for my curls I patter myself to my room to get dressed. I take a quick look out of the window where the night is still meeting the morning. The comfort of the moon is still slightly visible.

I'm feeling a bit confident in myself today so I grab one of the few summer dresses I own and put it on. The crimson tone of it looks nice with my auburn hair. I slip on my flats and a mid waist black jacket, grab my book bag and head down the stairs on my early mission.

"Emory is that you?" My Mom asks in a surprised tone. I mean I'm as shocked as she is to be honest that I'm up this early! "Yep! It's me" I reply as a hop down the last two steps of our staircase. "Well don't you look lovely this morning." She says with a grin on her face. "Thanks Mom" I say in a semi sarcastic joking way. "I didn't make your breakfast yet as I didn't anticipate you leaving until the last minute" she says with a smile. I look at her holding back a laugh because I can't be mad at the sarcasm as it's rather true and expected of me. "No worries, I figured I would grab something on my way to class this morning." "Okay, well be careful on your way dear and I'll see you tonight. I'll let you know if I'll be late. Just keep your phone turned up this time" she says. I reply with a quick "Will do! Love you!" and make my way to the front door as I hear her faded reply of "I love you too" and stick my ear buds in and start my walk.

The warm misty air filled with the remaining days of Summer is euphoric. The moon still dancing in the sky makes me want to wake up early every day but I know that's unrealistic for me.

Adrian only lives two blocks from me so I decide to walk past and see if I can catch her before she heads out.

As I walk around the corner I see Adrian's little white house and the neighboring blue house that's been next to it as long as I can remember. As I approach the porch of my best friends house I hear a creaking door open and Davian stepping out next door. I scurry my way behind the porch before he can see me. Just as I peek around the corner I hear him open and close his car door and the engine start. I slowly move my way around the corner and walk up the porch stairs and the front door popped right open with Adrian's surprised face. At the same time I can hear Davian pull out of his driveway and go. "Well hello there" she says with a boisterous laugh. "Good morning" I say back with a slight laughter. "Well I have to say I am shocked to see you before the sunrise" she says. "I've shocked myself" I say with another slight laugh. "Well let's get going" she says as she hands me a strawberry Pop-Tart she pulls out from the side of her bag. Guess I don't have to worry about breakfast.

On the way to school Adrian talks my ears off about her plans for College. She has a much bigger picture for herself than I do. She's getting out of Bar Harbor where as for me...well I can't see myself ever leaving. Not that I want to. I love this town surprisingly. I've always considered myself somewhere between modern and an old soul. This place brings out that soul inside me. It has a charm from it's historic buildings. Our school alone has its own charm. It's one of the oldest schools still standing. I always was intrigued in Elementary school by it's pillars and old wooden door. I was afraid one day this school would devour me with it's size but it's not so bad once you get use to it. But the college here is even more ancient and massive.

"Emory!" Adrian says loudly and I snap out of my thoughts. "Yes?" I say. "Have you even heard a word I have said?" she asks. "Yes, of course..." I reply unsure of myself. "Mmhm" she says playfully annoyed. "Anyways, today at lunch we should sit in the garden area it's going to be a cool 75 degrees and the Sun is good for endorphins, it'll give us a little boost to get through the day." "Okay, that could be good. I do love a good summer day" I say. "Outside it is" she says with a smile.

As we walk up to the school and step inside we part ways for class. I'm already starting to get tired. Thankfully lunch isn't too far off. The Sun better boost me up like she promised or this day is going to be dreadfully long.
