The finish line was in sight. I could almost taste it. I was in front. My whole life I had trained for this moment. But it was about to all slip away.
I trip on my own feet and fall crushing my right foot. The pain so horrific, I passed out.
I woke up in my bed panting and sweating like a dog. That dream again. I had been having the same dream every night since the accident. It was less of a dream, more of a flashback. A flashback of the time all my dreams collapsed.
Running is my passion, too bad I'll never be able to run again. When I fell, I broke almost every bone in my foot and... some other stuff that I don't understand. The doctors say it will be a miracle if I ever even walk again.
I hop around my room on my good foot, getting ready for school. School, where I'm the weird girl with a fucking robot leg and crutches that I'll have to have for the rest of my life.
I pull myself into the kitchen to make myself down breakfast. I pour myself a bowl of cereal and look at the large clock on the wall.
"Shit! I'm late!" I bring my cereal with me to my car and drive away.
