Nico

The prophecy was about both of us. Me and Ephy.
I don't like this. Whats going to happen? Charon talked to us about a quest and im not sure I wanted it. I mean, of course i would have to go if the prophecy talked about a quest, but still.

"Nico?"

I looked up at ephy. She was the one that pulled me out of my thoughts by saying my name. She looked at me questionably from across the table we were a sitting at. All the Councilors and Chiron  and Mr. D was sitting here.

This was the first time Mr.D been here since Euphoria arrived. He was away...something about a grape catastrophe in italy...im not entirely sure.

"Im ok. Just thinking." I told Ephy. She nodded and looked back at Chiron.

"Ive been trying to not say anything," Chiron started. "But, clearly its no longer avoidable and we will have to act." He sighed before continuing. "Hades is outraged. He doesn't want Euphoria here. He had forbade Melinoe from having children, due to them being...." he hesitated and glimpsed at Ephy, clearly not wanting to say what he was about to "evil and powerful..."

Ephy looked down and I could see the pain flash in her face. She met my eyes and i gave her a weak smile. She attempted to return it, but failed.

"But, Euphoria isnt evil!" Percy said, standing from his seat. "She doesn't have a mean bone in her body!" He was clearly just as mad about him calling ephy evil as i was. I didn't let my anger show, though. I stayed calm. Well, as calm as I could.

"Yeah!" Leo agreed from his seat.

Chiron sighed. "Let me tell you all a story. It was back in ancient Greece.
There was a Man, his name was Balus, he was a cruel man. He had this fascination with ghosts and he wanted to be able go summon them and control them.
But, one night before his ritual began, he prayed to the goddess Melinoe, that he might summon a spirit. But, instead of summoning a spirit, he summoned Melinoe herself.
Eventually, he fell for her. As all mortals do with the immortal. And Melinoe bared a son.

"Before the child was born, the lord Apollo had a prophecy. That a child of Melinoe would try to overtake the Underworld for their mother.  So when Hades heard that Melinoe was pregnant, he waited for the child to he born, since he couldn't kill the child in the womb. And after the child was born, it was a boy, Hades destroyed him. And he forbade Melinoe from ever having another child. And he said that if another spawn of the goddess was born, he would single handedly destroy everything and everyone that got in his way of keeping his place on the throne of the underworld. "

I let out a Breath I didn't know i was holding. The entire room was quiet due to everyone listening to the story so intently. I looked at Ephy and she had fear in her eyes, but her face was hard as stone.

Jason finally broke the ice. "Wait, so what, we're just gonna turn Euphoria over to Hades so he can kill her? Im not going to help do that!"he seemed a bit angered.

Mr.D laughed softly. "Well, she clearly isnt any better than her mother. I mean, she tried to kill herself. Shes clearly crazy."

That was my breaking point. I quickly stood, my fists clenched. I could hear the blood rushing through my body. I tried to keep my anger in, but him calling her crazy finally broke me. "Shes not crazy!" I yelled. Everyone looked at me, including Euphoria. "We will NOT  turn her over to my father. If we have to travel all the way to the underworld to convince my father, so be it. But i will not allow her to be killed over some silly feud from centuries ago!!"

Everyone looked at me stunned. Although, i would too. They looked at me in fear, scared that i would summon a chasm in the ground and it would swallow them all.

Everyone...but Ephy. She looked at me with a look of gratitude and...possibly admiration. She mouthed a quick 'thank you' to me and I replied with a small smile to which she returned.

"Mr, Di Angelo," Mr. D started. He seemed mad. Uh oh "i was only suggesting that we keep and open mind about this. But maybe we should turn her over. Not that i care about this ridiculous camp, but if we don't, Hades will destroy it."

I turned to Chiron. "Cant i try to convince my father that she isn't going to try to overthrow him?"

Chiron sighed. "Im not sure, Nico. You may certainly try. But the prophecy that Racheal talked of, it doesn't sound as though you will have much luck."

"We have to try.." Euphoria said softly. It was so quiet, im surprised i even heard her. She looked at Chiron and then at me. I gave her an encouraging nod. It seemed to give her confidence. She cleared her throat. "We have to try." She said, this time louder. "I dont want to die. I know this now. And i hate my mother. I do! She abandoned me. I would NEVER Help her overthrow Nicos dad. I would never do that to him..." she trailed off at the end as she met my eyes. I wasn't too sure if she was talking about me or my dad, but either way, Her words seemed to make Chiron and Mr. D think.

She looked away from me and back at Chiron as he began speaking. "Very well. Nico, Euphoria, you shall both journey to the underworld and try to establish peace. If you don't succeed, the world as we know it will change."

AN: Oooooo! Dramaa! Anyway, hope you are all enjoying my story so far. I plan on making a series of this. So this will be book one. Unless you guys think I should just finish the story in this same book. If so, it will be REALLY long lol and probably not as good.
