"Are you sure it was him?"

I nodded, before realising he couldn't see me, "I'm so sure."

I could see James's angry face from here. It made me laugh, "What's funny?" He asked through the phone, his voice all crackly.

I smiled, "Nothing. I'm just excited." I lied.

"Me too. What time am I picking you girls up?"

I shrugged my shoulders, "Whenever. Evelyn's doing her makeup and I'm picking an outfit."

I winked at Evelyn who was doing her eyeliner in the mirror on her floor.

"She looks hot!" Evelyn yelled, earning a chuckle from James, "I'm sure she does." My heart fluttered at the comment and Evelyn made a kissy face.

"Okay, we'll see you soon." I laughed, "I'll be there in twenty."

I hung up on him and put my phone on charge.

I had seen him an hour ago when he dropped me off at Evelyns. He bought his car and dropped me off, got ready and now he's coming back.

My hair was straightened but curled at the end, dark eyeshadow, eyeliner and bright red lip to compliment. "I don't know. Skirt and top or dress?"

"I have no idea chick. Both make you look sexy."

I tried them both on again, deciding the flick James a text.

Me
Skirt and top or dress???

He responded almost immediately.

James
Depends. Which one's shorter?

Me
Both, dress is black and skirt is also black.
The top is very... booby.

James
I vote skirt

I let out a snort and threw my phone away, pulling the skirt up my legs and the top over my head. He was right, this is definitely better.

The skirt was plain black and pleated - almost like a tennis skirt, sitting just above my middle thigh whilst the top was white and sat like a bralette.

I paired it with my Mom's silver necklace, hoops and Evelyn high-top converse, "Where are your heels?" Evelyn screeched. I laughed, "I am not wearing heels."

There was a knock at her door and I sat down on her bed, ignoring whoever it was at the door. "There is a boy downstairs asking for you. Are you ready?" Her Mom asked.

I nodded my head, swiping the last bit of lipgloss over my lipstick before grabbing a denim jacket, "Thanks Mrs Wong." I smiled.

Evelyn ran down the stairs before me while I took my time. It was a little chilly out so by the time I got to the car I had my jacket on already.

Mason and Evelyn were already squished into the backseat while I got priority seating.

We drove three blocks down the road to Ashton's house party. It's his eighteenth so his parents are letting him throw a party as long as the cops aren't called again - long story.

Once we got out, the cold air of the November night sent chills down my spine.

There were colorful lights everywhere. Music was shaking the ground and it smelt like a high school gym after prom - sweaty and fruity.

I walked through a cloud of smoke, coughing out second-hand cigarette smoke.

"I'm gonna go find Ashlyn." Evelyn said, squeezing my arm.
