Chapter 3; Letters

Embry was sitting on the swing slightly swaying themselves back and forth while staring at the still green water of the small pond that the swing set sat in front of. Embry closed their eyes and listened to the wind for a minute before opening them to a caw, they looked up noticing a crow sitting on top of the beam of the swing, it cawed again before looking back at Embry. Embry was slightly taken back by the crows staring.

Embry was sat at the foot of the pond playing with the mucky water with a stick. They glanced over to their side to look at the crow the crow cawed and looked at them tilting its head to the side.

"You know... You remind me a lot of Ryo."Embry said sticking their finger out so the crow could rub against it. Now that i think about it.. I never read the letters he sent. Not even the ones he sent after the Harvest Festival that happened last year...

Embry got up off the ground and brushed themselves off then looked at the crow "well, i should get going."They looked at the crow once again, the crow looked back and what it looked like to Embry nodded back at them.

Embry opened the door the the house being greeted to groans of the monster but they didn't care currently, they walked into the kitchen stopping in front of the small shelf below the calendar and looked down onto it; Crayons, paper, small notes and letters. Embry picked up one and looked at it, this one was from Necrotary, Embry sighed and opened it and began reading it was a tad bit hard to read given the fact that they never really learnt, but from what they could make out what the letter had written on it was;

Dear, Embry

Feb, 17, 1979

Hi Embry! I was just checking up on you, I sure hope you're doing well! I'm doing great on my part! I do miss the times with you and Ryo, especially the one when we met Sunny! Remember her? She came back this year, Her friends even came, although they were a little pushy they seemed nice, I guess it was distracting me from you and Ryo not being there. Also i was wondering how your parents have been, are they okay? or at least getting better. Sorry to cut this short Embry but i'm running out of things to talk about! Please write back when ever you can!

A message from your friend, Necrotary.

Embry smiled to themselves, ignoring the question about their parents. They glance past the note in their hand, they stared at the letter from Ryo. They put the letter they had just read down and picked up the one from Ryo and started reading it

Sep, 19, 1978

Hey Embry. I suppose i am writing this before you even left town! But i just wanted to say i had a great time with you and Necrotary during the Harvest Festival! Although you weren't really there for a good reason, at least you convinced your parents to stay for the festival! That doctor was really nice as well. tell your parents and him hi for me. Also you remember Ingram? He starting to figure out how to turn back and forth between his crow and human form! It's pretty cool! right? Well, I should keep this short, so, write back if you can!

Embry looked at the letter feeling multiple emotions; Scared, Confused, Worried, etc. They looked at the date, 1978, just last year, the year the doctor died, two after their parents Embry stood confused. They had never went to the town Ryo lived nor remember the Harvest Festival and who was Ingram? They fell deep into thought, How and Who? Their thoughts were interrupted by a loud bang then it went off, Embry remembered the day before the festival they had herd a loud bang at the basement door, they had pushed it off but now, they regretted it. It wasn't Embry, their mom, their dad nor Dr. D light... No wonder they were quite the next day...

It was the monster in the basement that was at the festival
