The pounding at my front door brought the light of the early London morning to my eyes as I groggily sat up. Wondering how late into morning it was I got off my bed and put on my robe strolling downstairs quickly not to keep them waiting. Rubbing my eyes and trying to wake myself up I answer the door to see a tall man standing there.
Broad shoulders, piercing grey eyes that looked wild. He smiles and says calmly "Well morning madam. I just wanted to let you know a robbery has just occurred at the Limestone bank" He seemed rather calm about a bank robbery just happening. I make a mental note and smile
"Well thank you for giving me this information. I shall be down there in a moment to check it all out." Smirking he says, "Why of course. We need our best detective to know these things don't we."
He smiles and gave me a little wave as he walked away from my two story, chiseled white house. Shutting the door, I walk upstairs to my room to change. Walking over to my drawers, I opened them up and stretched while looking to see what I should wear today. I picked out a light blue skirt that fell to my ankles and a white blouse.
(If you don't like these imagine something else ;) )
I looked for a pair of heels but I decided instead to wear a pair of black flats. I looked in my mirror and brushed out my ginger hair leaving it a little puffy and still somewhat curly.
I laughed and set my hairbrush down as I went downstairs and into the kitchen. Looking around, I found my favorite hat. Perfect I thought. It matches my outfit too.
(Same hat from the book cover.. FYI)Putting it on my head, I grab my last pastry and walk out of the house. Locking it behind me, I stroll down the road heading to the bank. Everyone on the streets is chatting about the robbery. I reached the bank to see it locked. Ouch. Good thing I can pick a lock. After a few seconds, the lock clicked open and I walked in. The back door to where all the gold was open and the gold was gone. And it was surprisingly clean, and the door was locked.
No one has been here since last night. This is freaking me out. Scoping out the place I come to the conclusion that our criminal is a very clean son of a bitch and that he left nothing behind.
No prints. Nothing at all.
I hear the door open and I turned around. Another detective. Looking at his face he seems to fit the profile of the man who stopped by this morning but not quite. Chuckling I say to him, "Did you come here already and get all the evidence? Because either this one is clean or you guys came here without me earlier."
He looks at me funny saying, "We haven't been here yet. We were informed just a few minutes ago down at the office." My eyebrow raised slightly. Weird.
"Did you come to my-." You have got to be kidding me. Out of the corner of eye I saw a piece of paper. I rush towards it and grabbed it.
Kneeling down and scanning the note carefully, in neat handwriting it read,
"This bank is pretty, and so is the gold. This won't be the last of me Miss Viotto. See you soon."
How does the criminal know I'm female? Because for all he knows I could be a guy. I chuckled before I heard the other detective ask, "What does it say?" I looked at him and questioned, "Did you stop by my house earlier this morning?"
He stepped beside me and said, "No Detective Viotto I did not. Is everything alright?" I took a deep breath before I spoke.
"I think our criminal came to my house and informed me of the robbery himself this morning."
I heard a gasp from the detective who was now beside me. I stand up and chuckle. "Oh he's good. He's a damn genius and this case hasn't even started yet."
A/n: Thanks for reading the first chapter!! I'll try to get the next one out today to give you all a good start. See ya next time. Arrivederci ;)
