They ended up spending the entire day together.

None of them saw Kyoko again, even though it'd be a while before Mami and Sayaka got to meet her properly.

Mami relaxed more into her well known self as time passed, and Sayaka, she ended up covering the bill for everything.

She said it was Madoka's birthday present, which would've been convincing if she hadn't been paying for Mami too, who apparently came from a wealthy family.

I should've talked to everyone more. she thought sadly when she realised she had no idea when the traffic accident was.

It was insensitive to ask when someone's parents died though, and she hadn't expected to need the info when Mami was still alive, she just hoped Homura had an idea when it was, she'd redone the month twice before Madoka's badly thought out plan.

She didn't know anything of Kyoko either, but that could wait until after they saved Mami.

"Should we go back now?" Mami asked when it started getting dark. "Your family and friends must be waiting."

"They won't start without the birthday girl," Sayaka grinned, throwing an arm around each of her friends. "Right Madoka?"

Madoka hummed in agreement, leaning into Sayaka's side, she'd missed the bluenette, and it had only been a few days since she last saw her.

"Let's go then." Mami smiled.

"You said earlier you've got a girlfriend," Sayaka nudged Madoka as they began back to the pinkette's house. "What's going on there?"

Madoka blushed.

"Um, we're not together," she began, even though she wasn't denying liking her.

"Miss Miki." Mami said sternly, quick to defend her new friend.

"It's okay," Madoka smiled. "Her name is Homura."

"Homura, huh." Sayaka said thoughtfully. "I like it." she grinned.

Madoka and Mami stared at her in confusion.

"Your future wife." Sayaka smirked.

Madoka's face turned bright pink.

"W-We're not getting married!" she cried, burying her face in her hands.

"Miss Miki." Mami said again.

"What?" Sayaka grinned. "Madoka knows I'm joking."

Mami just heaved a sigh, wondering what she got herself into.

----------

"What an interesting home you have." Mami commented, staring up at the glass house where Madoka lived.

"Thanks," Madoka beamed.

Sayaka had said the same thing the first time Madoka invited her over as well.

"We're home!" Madoka called.

As they walked in, the first thing they noticed was how dark it was, and quiet.

It didn't take Mami and Sayaka long to figure out what was going on, and by then, Madoka was in the living room.

"Surprise!" Everyone jumped out when Madoka turned on the lights. "Happy birthday Madoka!"

Madoka's face lit up when she saw the pink balloons and streamers covering the room, and a large pink banner saying "Happy Birthday!"

"We've been waiting for you," Hitomi said, smiling warmly.

"Didn't you have class today?" Sayaka asked.

Hitomi nodded.

"Mother let me finish early when I told her it was Madoka's birthday." the greenette explained.

Sayaka threw an arm around Hitomi while grinning.

"Managed to cheat your way out of class?" she teased.

Hitomi huffed, but didn't deny it.

"Miss Kaname, is she always this rude?" Mami asked quietly.

"Yep!" Madoka beamed.

Mami sighed, then smiled back.

"Are you busy tomorrow?" Mami asked, changing the subject.

She wanted to see more of the pinkette, after today.

"Nope," Madoka answered. "We should hang out."

Mami nodded in agreement.

"Indeed." she agreed, the blonde saw something white as they went to sit down, when she turned, there was a long eared, puffy tailed white cat sat in the window outside. It must be Miss Kaname's cat. she thought, ignoring the creepy, glowing red eyes.

----------

"Homura!" Madoka sang as she flopped down on her bed, in her pyjamas with her phone to her ear.

"Hello Miss Kaname," Homura greeted in her usual soft, shaky tone. "How are you?"

Despite knowing the other girl couldn't see her, Madoka gave a mock frown.

"You did that on purpose!" she tutted good naturedly.

"I thought it would be a fun start for you!" Homura admitted, sounding more shaky than normal.

"It's okay," Madoka rolled onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. "I met Mami, she acts really different."

On the other end, Homura nodded.

"Her family owns most of Mitakihara, her parents are your mother's boss." Homura explained.

Madoka sat up, brow creased in confusion.

"Do you know when her accident is?" Madoka asked, getting serious as she remembered her plan to ask.

"It's tomorrow."

"T-Tomorrow?!" Madoka shouted, causing Homura to wince, and her father to call, asking if she's okay.

"What do we do?" she asked desperately.

"Um, you were close to Miss Tomoe before I became a magical girl, so you told me a lot about her." Homura admitted.

"How much?" Madoka asked.

"The accident is tomorrow afternoon, on the highway." Homura began. "She and her parents are going on holiday."

"We have to stop them." Madoka said seriously.

"Miss Tomoe won't make a contract if you do." Homura pointed out, despite feeling the same.

"Same can make a different wish." Madoka said dismissively. "We have to prevent that traffic accident."
