You Were Mine

Chapter 2

I'll do everything. I swear to God. Please just don't take Xander away from me. Please, Lord. Everything.

I came with him in the ambulance. Muntik na akong mahimatay noong sabihin nila ang name nya. I said I am his Gf so they allowed me to go with him.

Sad thing is, bawal syang hawakan kahit sa kamay lang kasi sobrang lakas ng impact. We can't be sure anong masakit sakanya.

"Malayo pa po ba?" I managed to say while sobbing. Hindi ko mapigil 'yong iyak ko. I can't pretend to be strong. I know I have to but I just can't. It's so hard for me to look at him.

"Mabilis nalang. Just hold on, I know he'll be saved. Pray lang" a nurse said to me. I smiled in between sobs pero mas lalo akong naiiyak.

Lord, siguro naging pasaway ako before, pero minsan lang ako nagmahal ng sobra. Please don't take him away.

I was praying so hard when the door opened. We arrived at the hospital na pala.

"Dahan dahan hindi pa masyadong stable ang condition nya" the other nurse said and I feel suffocated. Xander, ano ba. Lumaban ka please.

Nagbulungan 'yong dalawang nurse and I noticed them looking at me but I didn't mind. I'm busy with my own problems here.

Tinatakbo na si Xander sa emergency room kaya mas lalo akong nagpanic. They closed the doors and I was left outside. All I managed to do is to look at my hands and there was blood on it. Shit. I was about to break down when someone pulled me into a hug.

"Zynth..."

That voice. It was Xander's sister, Kayla.

"Ate..." And I began to cry harder. Yung mga pinipigilan kong luha kanina sa ambulance dahil nakakahiya sa nurses, lumabas na lahat. I hate blood. I always feel dizzy just seing a tiny scratch from my body. And to see Xander in a pool of blood, I just don't know how to feel.

"Ssshh... He's a strong guy. He'll be okay." Ate Kayla and I were the closest among Xander's siblings. Their eldest Ate Clara hates me. She thinks I stole Xander from Yassi. I would never do such things. I just catched Xander when Yassi left him. I saved him. And I hope I can save him again in this situation, but I can't.

"Ate, sana ako nalang 'yung nabangga" I cried again. Harder this time. Shit Zynth. Xander also taught you to be strong. Yung cussings nalang ata nya naaalala mong iapply, e!

"Don't ever say that. Xander wouldn't want that. Everything's gonna be okay." She carressed my hair and hugged me tighter.

"Where's Xander?!" Ate Clara shouted with Jasper beside her. They're here already, Xander's siblings, his only family left.

"Nasa emergency room na ate" Ate Kayla answered.

"What happened to him ba?!" Ate Clara looked at me. I can't find my words to answer her.

"Ate in shock pa kasi si Zynth kasi sya nakakita kay Xander so just let calm down first."

"Bakit sya in shock?! Ganon ba kalala nangyari kay Xander?!"

No one dared to speak. I wasn't able to give Ate Kayla much information a while ago 'cause I wasn't able to get one, too. Ang alam ko lang drunk driving yung suspect then nabangga nya si Xander while he's standing beside his motorbike. Medyo madaming fractures kasi parang naipit sya in between the motorbike and car.

Pinaupo nalang din ni Ate Kayla si Ate Clara katapat ng upuan ko. And Jasper sat beside me. He's the youngest and the closest to Xander. He placed his arm on my shoulder.

"Malakas si kuya ate, kahit anong truck pa bumangga don, masamang damo kaya 'yon" I tried my hardest to smile but I don't find his joke enlightening. Mas lalo lang akong kinabahan.

No one's speaking so I stopped crying. Baka paalisin pa ako ni Ate Clara dahil maingay na ako.

Every minute feels like forever. The clock's ticking makes me paranoid as hell. Xander, please fight. I believe in you.

Minutes and hours have passed but there's no Xander nor a doctor coming out from the emergency room.

"What's taking them so long?!" Ate Clara impatiently asked just when the door burst open.

I almost tripped when Jasper reached for me.

"Thanks, Jas" I smiled at him. Sya ang dahilan, partially, bat kami nagkakilala ni Xander, so I owe him a lot. He's friends with Alex and they pushed me to go on a blind dating before.

I was put back to my senses when he spoke. "Ano ka ba ate, mas magaaalala si Kuya nyan. Be careful." he tried to cheer me up again but all I want to hear is what the doctor's about to say. Sorry, Jas. Xander's condition is my top priority right now.

Please keep him safe. Anniversary gift mo man lang, Papa Jesus.

"Sino ang family?" The doctor's kinda confused 'cause we all look young. Xander's parents already died 4years ago, plane crash. Si Ate Clara na ang tumayong magulang nila. She looks 22 but she's already in her 30's.

"Ako, ate nya ako. How's my brother?" she firmly asked the doctor.

"He's in critical" and I felt like my knees were in jelly. "We'll observe him for the next 24hours. If there's no seizure then he'll be safe. Even thought he doesn't wake up yet, as long as walang seizure, safe na sya."

We all nodded. 24 hours. You can do that Xander. 24 hours lang, baby. Please.

That was the longest 24 hours of my life ever.

I prayed so hard for him to surpass this. And for me to become stronger for him.
