You Were Mine

Chapter 3

We waited for the nurses to transfer him to his room for observation before I finally decided to leave.

"Ate alis muna ako." I said to Ate Kayla.

"You sure you're okay? You change your clothes then rest na, Zy" she gave
me a sad smile.

I looked at my clothes and there's some blood on it. Maybe from getting close to Xander a while ago. God, Xander. Why is this happening?

I was about to answer her that I'm just going to pray to the nearest chapel when Ate Clara speak.

"Yeah, kami na ang bahala dito. Umuwi kana" there's an authority to her voice.

"Ate..." Ate Kayla started to speak when I held her hand and nodded, telling her it's okay.

"Magdadasal lang po ako for Xander then I'll be back soon, Ate." then I left. I don't want to hear anything about what Ate Clara has to say. You can't please everybody but damn it. Xander's laying in the hospital bed and she still have the guts to become angry at me.

Calm down, Zynth. Remember, Xander. Magpakabait ka para pagalingin sya ni God.

I found a small chapel inside the hospital. There are other people solemnly praying too. I went to the front and kneeled as I prayed

Lord, hi there. It's been a while since the last time I prayed. Sorry I forgot about You when I met Xander. You know he's kinda the bad boy type. But, he's a really good guy. He thinks I saved him when it's the opposite. He has helped a lot of people. He... He believes in You. I haven't said this before but thank You for giving him to me. He's the greatest gift you ever gave to me. Now he's laying there and I don't know what to do. He's my life now and I love him so much. Just a day, Lord. Just 24 hrs. Keep him safe. That's all I pray and I'll be willing to wait for him to wake up even though it takes years, as long as I know he's safe and breathing. Just this once. I believe in You.

And Lord, please heal those deserving patients here. I know this is just a test of faith, but please heal all those who believes in You.

Amen.

Xander's siblings were already eating inside his room when I came in.

"Ate, kain." Jasper gave me a tupperware with spaghetti inside. I accepted it when Ate Clara spoke.
I was shocked when I heard she has something to say again. But what she said next made me even more shocked.

"Kumain ka na. Mahaba habang oras ang aantayin natin. Kailangan mo din ng lakas. Mamaya sabihin pa ni Xander na ginutom kita." She has her own ways of being kind.

Ate Kayla was also shocked but she smiled and winked at me.

"Thankyou Ate" I answered Ate Clara and stopped ny tears from falling.

"Wag ka ngang umiyak dyan. Matagal naman na kitang tanggap for Xander. I don't hate you but I don't like you either. Pero I saw how you take good care of my idiot brother and I'm good with it. Hindi ako masamang kontrabida, mainit lang lagi ulo ko." She was about to say more when Jas and Ate Kayla laughed.

It was awkward for both of us but I can't help but laugh along with them. Ate Clara has sweet bones naman pala.

You see, Xander. We're okay na. So please fight and wake up.

We have to be awake to monitor Xander's condition when Jasper had an idea of telling funny stories about him.

"Dapat masasaya lang para sumaya din si Kuya. Ate Zy, kwento mo 'yung lovelife nyo dali! Haha" when Jasper asked about our love story, I saw Ate Clara became serious.

"Oo nga, medyo curious ako. Ang alam ko inagaw mo sya kay Yassi, e."

Knew it. That's what she thinks.

"Huh?! Anong inagaw?!" Ate Kayla was mad about what she heard because she knows everything and she knows the truth. "Baka sampalin ko pa 'yang si Yassi e"

I told them everything about how we met. Our love story is really unique but wonderful. I miss you, baby.

"That bitch, nagsusumbong pa sa akin na inagaw mo daw si Xander. Pag nakita ko 'yon uumpog ko sa abs ko!" Ate Clara said and we all laughed again.

"You judge too much kasi Ate. Zynth is the coolest girlfriend ever." I felt myself blush after hearing their praises.

We shared our different stories when the door suddenly burst open with the doctor suddenly monitoring Xander. I don't know what they're doing cause I hate science but I fully understood what he meant when he said

"He's now safe"

I didn't know I was holding my breath until I heard his words. Hindi pala namin napansin na 24hours kaming nagkwentuhan. Ate Clara and Kayla hugged each other when Ate Clara pulled me to hug them too. A tear escaped from our eyes.

One step at a time, baby. Gising na please.

God heard my prayers. And he granted it.

I wish he didn't.

'Cause days, weeks, and months have passed but there's no Xander waking up.

He's there but he isn't.
