'I didn't mean to kill them. It wasn't my fault. I didn't have a choice.'
Closing her notebook, Devyn sat back in her chair, contemplating the incident. A knock at the door cleared her mind. "Miss Baker. Your food is ready." A quiet voice spoke from behind the closed door.
Sighing as she got up from her chair, dreading the bare thought of having to leave the comforts of her room, she took a deep breath and exhaled as she opened the door, greeted by the smiley face of the young nurse.
"This way Miss Baker." The nurse gestured, leading Devyn down the hall, she looked over the poorly decorated walls. Windows on the right side, taking up most of the wall. The doors that led to each room were on the left with bland paintings of flowers just above the frame.
Walking into the cafeteria, all eyes went on her. Whispers fell from the crowd like rain on a rainy day. They whispered things, such as "who is that girl?" or "was she the one who killed all those people?".
Truth was, well Devyn didn't really know. All she knew was that she was the tenth person, that it was her turn soon.
Blocking out the gruesome voices Devyn sat down at a table far from everyone. Eating the bland food, she thought back to that dreadful place. The place that put her in this ward.
But what was the incident that had locked her in the mental ward? What caused her to supposedly murder those other people? What happened that night that caused her to forever change?
