Chapter ten
Nguvu's pov
Me and my sisters picked some ripe apples from the apple trees we had discovered over in the bushes, we then head to where the berries grew in abundance picking and eating while adding to the baskets.
I love the coolness of the morning, the peacefulness of the surroundings was disturbed momentarily by the knocking, clanging and chopping that Pyiad and his friends were doing a short distance away. They were constructing huts and barns for thier horses, it was evident they didn't have much food, but by spying on them daily I noticed how caring they were for each other.
We had it really rough until we escaped here, food isn't our problem right now. Some of the men went out to hunt like Mariah's families and friends, I see that they have even set up pots to catch fish at a coved part of the river that stretches past them.
I looked one last time over where they worked, as me and my sisters head back home. Sweat dripped from off Pyiad's body as he and another man struggled to hoist a huge post to the top of a structure, his muscled rippled from his exposed torso and I looked admiringly at his tall muscular frame.
He was one of the best looking scott men I have ever seen, his height was staggering and the way he went about lightly although he was so huge, cause me to always want to watch him.
"I'm ashamed to admit this but he is gorgeous, a rare species." Claudia said and I turn my head to look at her. "Mhnmh." Debbie hummed. "Tsk." I hissed. "I will never lay with any scottish men, the mere thought is in fact revolting." I said gathering up my skirts and marching off.
Mama's food was delicious as usual but I couldn't eat as we all sat down around the fire to eat, my brothers ate hungrily Robert was tired after coming back from helping out our new neighbors. "Is something wrong with the food Nguvu?" Marcus asked from where he sat with his sick leg hoisted. "Oh no, no not at all. I ah, you know our neighbors don't have much food to feed thier young ones." I said lowly. "Oh." Mama said and stopped eating. "They do hunt and catch fish but they have nothing to eat it with, I think we could give them some flour, dried beans and grains to make barley." I said.
"Yes we could do that." Luther said putting down his half eaten plate of food. "Ok let me cover your foods up for you." Mama said and me, Luther Debbie and Claudia went and packed out some food stuff in a wheelbarrow and I carried a torch to light our way through the tracks we now travelled back and forth on a daily basis.
"Ah good night, ahnm me and my family are offering you a little out of our food supply, we see that you don't have much." Luther said when we arrived.
Cebert was tiredly roasting something around the fire, while Pyiad sat on the ground filing tools away from them. An elderly scottish woman got up and came towards us. "Hello I'm Margaret, we thank you." She said in a strained voice and we nodded. "Please put them here on this cook bench." She instructed Luther, who did so, after bading them good night we turned and went back home. I was able to finish eating and enjoy my dinner and so did my other siblings.
