The next day, at 11:45, you started getting ready for your date. You were meeting Camilo in fifteen minutes and you wanted to look your best. You put on a simple yellow dress that touched the ground when you weren't wearing shoes. You braided your hair in two braids that went over your shoulders. You even put on a little mascara, eye shadow, and blush, which you never did. You also put on a few sprays of perfume. Your shoes were black flats. By the time you stepped out of your room, it was three minutes until noon. When you went downstairs, your mother hugged you and said, "Oh! My little senorita is going on her first date!" You squirmed. "Mami!" She stepped back. "Sorry. Have fun, mija."
You ran out the door and sprinted over to Casita. When you got close enough, you could see Camilo walking out the door. As you watched, Mirabel came up behind him and asked him what he was doing. He jumped and turned into you for a second before turning back into himself. Your best friend narrowed her eyes, probably noting who he turned into. Just then, Dolores came up to her and whispered something in her ear. Mirabel's eyes widened and then she stepped back, practically pushing Camilo out the door. "Have fun!" She called out as he made his way toward you. "Subtle." You muttered.
"Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting. Mirabel and Dolores were hassling me." He said once he had caught up to you. "No hay problema." You replied. He led you over to a nearby restaurant and pulled out your chair for you. You knew he was trying to be romantic, but it was just so ridiculously out of character for him that you had to giggle. He sat down and you both ordered your food. "Hey," Camilo said, "I just wanted to thank you again for comforting me the other day, and for keeping my secret last night." You blushed. "Honestly, it was nothing." You told him. "But it was something to me." He said. You blushed brighter. "Y/N," Camilo started earnestly, "I have had a crush on you for a very long time. I was always just too scared to admit it." At this point, your cheeks were very noticeably pink. "I've had a crush on you for almost as long as I can remember." You admitted. Even though he had already told you that he felt the same, you were still embarrassed and scared of telling him how you felt. He smiled. You both got your food and talked about babysitting, the town, Mirabel, and anything and everything else that you could think of.
Recently, it had started getting dark super early. So, at 1:30 when you and Camilo had finished lunch, the sun was already starting to set.
~ author's interjection ~ I don't know what time the sun sets in November in Columbia, but I want this next part to be when it's dark and I don't want you to stay out too late, so this was my solution :)
You and Camilo were both free for the rest of the day, so you decided to go exploring the nearby mountains. "Maybe we'll find Tio Bruno." Camilo said, barely able to keep his sinister tone because of his laughter. You laughed, too, and he chased you up the mountain. When you reached the top, you both stopped, breathless, and marveled at the view of Encanto. The town was silhouetted by the sunset and it looked otherworldly.
