It was the morning of Camilo's birthday, and you woke up happy and excited. Five minutes after you had come down for breakfast, Mirabel was there and talking to you a mile a minute. "Okay! Dolores let me know as soon as you woke up, and I rushed over here as fast as I could. Camilo isn't at all suspicious and he was still sleeping when I left. The party decorations are perfect, Mami is just finishing up the food, and I have the important job of helping you get ready. You done eating 'cause the party starts in half an hour. Not that you have that much to do, you're really only doing your hair and getting in your dress, oh, and makeup and perfume but that only takes a few minutes. I wonder if-" You stood up. "Mira. Chill. You honestly don't need magic, you were born with the gift of talking at the speed of sound. Your words can hardly keep up with themselves." Mirabel gave you The Look. You laughed. "Okay, let's go get you ready for your boyfriend's party!" Her mood swings were truly inspiring.
It took you twenty minutes to get ready. When you stepped out of the bathroom, Mirabel described you as 'truly stunning. Camilo won't know what hit him.' It took you both seven minutes to get to Casita, so you had three minutes to get in position. It was a surprise party, but not the kind where everyone jumped out and scared him. Mirabel just went to get him and you all stood there, ready to shout Happy Birthday! from right where you were standing. Then, it would just be a regular party.
Camilo walked in the door, and as you all yelled at him to be happy, his eyes lit up and for once his surprise did not lead to him changing into anyone. He was totally Camilo the entire time. That is, until you ran up and gave him a kiss on the lips right in front of everyone at the party. He turned into you, then his mother Pepa, and then back into a blushing version of himself. You laughed and pulled him onto the dance floor. "C'mon Cami! Dance with me!" The first song was a bouncy beat in Spanish, quick and lively. It had everyone bouncing and twirling, you and Camilo in the center of it all. You danced the Porro, the Cumba, the ever-amazing salsa. You bounced around with Camilo, twirling and swishing your skirt up and down and all around. The band ended with a slow and kind of sad Spanish song about caterpillars turning into butterflies, so you and Cami got to slow dance, but that song eventually ended in the same lively beat that all of Colombia adored.
After all the dancing, you and Camilo made your way over to the "snack" table (quotation marks because anyone who eats that much as a snack is either 500 pounds or Camilo). He loaded up his plate while you grabbed a few arepas and a cup of lulo juice. One time you asked him how he ate so much but still remained so thin. He told you that he mostly had to eat enough for everyone he had shape shifted into since he had last eaten. He also said that shape shifting was the most effective type of weight-loss exercise, which you weren't exactly sure was a joke. Anyways, after eating, you both went back out there and danced to one last lively song. Then, the party was over and everyone started to make their way home. Camilo kissed you goodbye and you yelled, "BYE CAMI!" from just outside Casita, so as to make sure Mirabel heard it and could tease him about the nickname. Your relationship with that boy teetered between breathless love and endless teasing. You loved him so much.
