Chapter 6

The two baby boys were named Lukas and Maximilian. The first child was named after Ethan's late brother, while the second infant was named after Karl's father, who was also his best friend and only person he could rely on when he was still human. Everyone was obsessed with the twins, but Ethan was overly paranoid and cautious with them when they were around other people. He had nightmares of his sons being taken away and killed just like his dear Rosemary was. Which is why he now took two sleeping pills at night, but he made sure to take them after he had breastfed the boys. He really did know his stuff about babies, Karl was... well, he wasn't on Ethan's level.

The omega was currently sitting in his cozy armchair, both twins in each arm and wearing matching onesies as they sucked on dodies. Ethan couldn't stop smiling as the babies babbled and made the most adorable faces up at their papa. Ethan wished that his husband could be inside with them as well, but since Karl was still a chain smoker, he was outside a lot of the time. "Who's the cutest pair of babies in the world? You are, you are!" Ethan chittered in a baby voice and nuzzled his face against both of their chubby cheeks, causing the infants to squeal and giggle while squirming from the fun voice. Ethan also laughed and hugged the boys tighter before he perked one ear up at the door opening.

The infants also perked up their tiny ears, Lukas yawned while Max sneezed cutely, his nose crunching up afterwards. The omega stood up from his seat in the huge armchair and faced the door, his ears drooping slightly once he saw a miserable and exhausted looking Karl standing at the door and untying his boots lazily. Since the twins were born, he had been working thrice as hard to make more money with his creations in the village to better provide for them. To get a bigger room and maybe a garden for the boys to grow up in. "I'll be right back, boys." He whispered to the babies before he set them down in their cribs by the fireplace so that they could be warm.

"Welcome home, Karl." Ethan greeted as the Alpha stepped out of his boots and removed his hat, smiling tiredly once he saw his beloved mate. "Hey, buttercup. Sorry I came home so late tonight, pricks got me workin' so hard, my fingers might fall off. And it won't be as easy as making a prosthetic for you." He joked while holding up his bruised and cramped looking fingers, covered in metal dust and dry blood. Ethan only sighed and took his injured hands in his own, which were warm and smelled like the nice soaps that some midwives sold in the village. "You're working too hard, Karl." He told him with a quiet whimper in his voice and the tired older man just rested his chin on top of Ethan's head and purred lowly.

"You smell so nice, Hon." He breathed out weakly and Ethan frowned, moving his hands to around Karl's shoulders. "You should have a bath, eat something and get to bed." He said as he walked the alpha to the bathroom where he ran him a nice bath and washed his hair for him. Karl was lying in the tub with his head resting against the top, being supported by two folded hand towels. While he was resting his eyes for a few minutes, Ethan snuck off back into the living room to bring the cribs into the bathroom. He changed Luka's dirty nappy and made both of them a warm bottle of milk before he set them down in the cribs, using his left foot to gently rock the crib back and forth as he went back to washing Karl's meaty chest, feeling his slender fingers through the coarse hair lovingly.

He could feel Karl purring tiredly, his right hand slowly moving over Ethan's before holding the blonde's hand down to his heartbeat. "I'm ready to get out now." He admitted and the omega nodded, standing up and grabbing some towels for his husband. He dried his hair for him and got a nice pair of pyjamas fresh out of the dryer so they were all toasty. While Karl dressed, Ethan moved to the kitchen with Max lying in his left arm and Lukas was still sleeping in the crib which had been moved back to the living room. "Daddy is so tired today." Ethan whispered to the blonde haired boy, the baby just gurgled around his tiny fist which he had shoved inside of his mouth two minutes ago, so it was now completely covered in spit. Good thing he was wearing a bib.

After Ethan made Karl a curry with rice, he sat down on the couch beside Lukas and gently rocked the crib with his foot as he breastfed Max, humming and petting his tiny head in a loving manner. He returned to the kitchen table with the blonde twin to be with Karl as he ate. The older man was silent as he ate, showing his appreciation for the clean clothes and hot meal. After Ethan had washed up the dishes, Karl suggested that they go to sleep. His omega liked the idea. He gently picked up Lukas in his other arm and carried the twins to the master bedroom- well, the only bedroom. While Ethan changed into his pyjamas, Karl lay both boys down on the changing table and applied sudo cream to their genitals so they got no urine rashes.

Ethan crawled into bed with his husband and took both twins from him. As Karl found it hard to fall comfortable in his position to sleep, Ethan leaned over and lightly tapped his shoulder before handing him Lukas. Once he only had one boy in his arms, Ethan slid down a bit so his head was lying in the middle of the pillow. "Lulu always makes whoever's holding him feel sleepy." Ethan whispered quietly while caressing the back of Max's head and patting his clothed bum to relax him. Karl stared at his husband for a few moments before he shook his head and sat up. "You need a good night's rest, hon. You have to mind both of these rascals for the whole day tomorrow. You'll need the energy-", Ethan only smiled in exhaustion and curled up a little more. "You're cute when you care..." he yawned before he slowly closed his eyes.

Max turned his tiny head around slowly and looked up at his dad, giggling innocently while he reached his small hand up to play with Ethan's cheeks. Max was always hyper at night. "Ah, ah, don't do that." Karl said softly and gently took the baby's tiny hands away from his mother's reddened face. Max whined and threatened to cry and throw a tantrum, which Karl seriously couldn't let happen. He panicked and tried shushing the baby sharply which only distressed Max more and caused him to start wailing. While Lucas could sleep through a hurricane, Ethan unfortunately couldn't. He sat up with a tired groan and he began to cradle the upset baby, patting his back gently while bouncing him on his shoulder. "It's okay, baba. Shhh... please go back to sleep..." he whispered with his eyes barely even open.

Max soon stopped crying and began to suck his thumb, but his eyes were still wide open! Karl was frowning up at his husband, using his guilty puppy face to tell his husband that he was silently sorry. "Go to sleep, Karl. We'll be fine..." Ethan whispered hoarsely as Max babbled small noises as he calmed down more and more. The Metal Lord didn't think he could do anything else but just sleep. He had a very peaceful night's sleep while cuddling Lukas, who loved cuddles more than anything. He was so warm and cozy, like a little snuggle puppy. Ethan only got Max to sleep at 4am, and Ethan only got three hours until Lukas woke up crying in the night. Karl was still sound asleep as the infant in his arms choked on tearless sobs.

"Come here, Lulu." Ethan yawned and sat up, swapping the twins before unbuttoning his pyjamas shirt and he cradled Lukas in his left arm, his hand supporting the back of his head while he used his right arm to apply pressure to his slightly grown breast, supplying the infant with the milk he wanted. While he was feeding the baby, he looked down at Karl's sleeping state and the way that he protectively held Max close to his gut so he would be warm and away from danger. Ethan couldn't help but smile and he leaned against his wonderful husband, humming softly to the baby in his arms.
