My overprotective mom

I walked down the short driveway leading up to her house. I reached the doorknob and twisted it open, leaving it ajar. Then I squeezed through. I shut the door firmly behind me. I didn't want anyone to hear what I was about to say. I checked every room and closed every door or window. Mom stood behind me, bewildered. I (finally) turned to her and said, "Mom. I'm going to tell you something and you can't tell anyone." Mom frowned but nodded slowly. "Honey, what is this about?" She gestured toward the closed windows. "Its hot in here." I bit my lip. "Mom, I have powers." She looked concerned, but didn't say anything so I continued.
"I close my eyes, and conjure up a picture of someone, and I know everything about them." Mom nodded, taking it all in. "So...you have powers." Mom looked like she was about to cry. "Mom, I'm sorry if I didn't tell you sooner....I should've told you." I said. Tears slip out of her eyes, and she pulls me into a hug. "I know... I'm sorry too...I should've known..." I start to cry too, and we pull apart. "Mom, I have to go. I'll be right back." "Where are you going?" "To get fresh air."
Mom smiles sadly at me as I walk out the door.
