Picturing Peace

Chapter 4

Fourth Year

Third Person Pov-

A blonde and a redhead sat in the Hogwarts library studying in silence, the occasional question would be asked between the pair or one would leave to go return a book they had been using. Otherwise not a word was spoken between the two. At the time Wendy was in fourth year while her companion Lily was in fifth. 

They had met when Lily had been recommended to study with the third year for astronomy as she were quite educated in the area. Lily had been hesitant at first but eventually tried it out and actually enjoyed studying with her, liking how when she talked about astronomy Wendy was suddenly transported to a different place. Wendy had helped her as she had helped Wendy back, often giving her tips on different subjects that at the time you had slightly struggled with the concept of.

There was almost always silence when they studied together, like an unspoken agreement to not utter a word together as to allow each other to be fully invested in their work. Well that was only when they were together, if  either Severus or Regulus were with them then the atmosphere changed to a more of a group study. 

Normally this evolved a banter between Severus and Wendy, over who knows what, last week being a random quidditch player they had only just heard off, they went back and forth for ages about how his nose or his jaw was the players best feature. Neither Wendy or Severus had any interest in who the person was. They dropped the subject when Lily threatened to throw a book at both their heads, Regulus actually did it, hitting Severus straight in the nose and Wendy on the side of her head. Afterwards they went back to studying and the subject and player was soon forgotten.

Lily closed her book, having just finished her charms homework, she browsed over the bookshelves until her eyes landed on the one she needed. Lucky for her James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew wear standing there. Not wanting to deal with Potter at the moment she glanced over at her younger friend. Wendy sat curled in the armchair reading a Potions book and jotting down notes every now and then. Lily cleared her throat causing Wendy's head to snap upward to look at the red head.

"Would you mind putting this book away for me Luna?" Wendy scrunched her eyes in confusion, glancing over to the bookshelf Lily was looking at. The three Marauders were still there, upon seeing them Wendy came to realization of what Lily needed. Nodding Wendy took the book form Lily's hand and began to return it. 

Wendy hadn't really talked to the Marauders since first year. At the start it was simple "hello's" when they passed in the hallway and that was it, though they were only ever directed to her, ignoring her Slytherin best friend so eventually Wendy got sick of it, she stopped interacting with he Marauders as she found it quite rude. All interactions then ceased, it didn't bother her much, it didn't bother anyone much.

Now walking over there Wendy was unsure if the wold even recognise her, Wendy had diffidently changed from the timid eleven year old she used to be to a mature fourteen year old. She had grown a few feet now a 5'9 nearing 10. She had also lost the rest of her aby fat making her jaw sharper and general body a lost skinnier and curvier, no longer looking like the card board box of a kid she once was. Her hair hadn't changed much, still blonde now just longer. 

As she got closer to the boys she heard a snippet of something Sirius said "what did moony want again?" they too had grown up to mature looking boys, still completely careless though, but more mature looking, no more baby fat and they had grown a foot at least. When she arrived to the book shelf they were at she scanned across it, looking for the placing. 

The place for the book to go was right near where Sirius was leaning, she walked towards the shelf ignoring the three boys. Peter Pettigrew was the first to acknowledge her beckoning for Sirius to move, confused why Sirius turned around to see the tall blonde beauty behind him, she slotted the book into place and when Wendy noticed the silence surrounding them she turned her head to look at them. Sirius was shocked by her beauty, strong jaw, deep hazel eyes and smooth skin. Wendy gazed around at the three of them, making eye contact with Sirius as she did, both of them melting at the connection. She did a small smile, turned on her heal and left.

When she was gone Sirius turned back to his friends, and they both looked surprised to have seen this girl, not knowing how they had never met her. Quickly finding the book and hurrying back to tell Remus Lupin the new they passed a the table with Lily and Wendy sitting at it, now confused on how that girl knew Lily. 

"Remus, hey" they chucked Remus the book as the sat down. Remus looked up form his notes to find confused looks on each of the boys faces making him equally as confused.

"Why do you guys look so confused?" the boys turn to him and then James states, "there was this girl who came by , she was putting away a book and" 

"She was drop dead gorgeous" Sirius interrupted, not fazed by what he said, knowing the others would agree.

James rolled his eyes and continued "yeah she was, but how have we then never seen her before?" Remus looked at all the boys and then questioned, "what did she look like?" Peter answered this time.

"She was about 5'9, had long blonde hair, big hazel eyes, she was wearing a Ravenclaw uniform and um yeah, kind of all I noticed" his two companions nodded in agreement before looking back to Remus, James spoke next. "And she was studying with Lily Evans, like, how do we not know her?" Remus rolled his eyes at their news.

"Well I need to ask Lily a question about our astronomy work so maybe then we can go and see them?" Nods of agreement were shared and they went back to doing what they were before; Remus studying, James and Sirius talking about quidditch and Peter falling asleep.

Meanwhile, when Wendy got back to her seat Snape was sitting to her right. She nodded in acknowledgment to him, knowing that Lily hadn't noticed him yet, too immersed in her studies. I cleared my throat and then began to speak to Severus.

"Hello Snivellus, how has your day been?" this caught Lily's attention, she looked up finally realising Snape's presence. The boy in return rolled his eyes and began talking as well, "hello Lily, Windy, my day has been great" he said the last part with sarcasm dripping form his voice. Wendy rolling her eyes at the nickname now. 

Lily and Snape began to talk about some meaningless subject and Wendy pulled out a sketch pad, propping herself up she began to draw, the drawing like the conversation was meaningless, not much importance was held there, a mere sketch that came to mind. This went on for about ten more minutes, twelve if you added the two minutes they spent ignoring the marauders presence until Remus tapped Lily on the shoulder and spoke up,

"Hey Lily, um, I was just wondering if you understood the question about the fifth planet from the sun thing?" 

Lily shook her head in return and Remus nodded about to turn away but Lily spoke up,

"Wendy, do you know what the... main materials the fifth planet from the sun is constructed of?" Wendy glanced up at her friend, then to the marauders then back to Lily, 

"it's Jupiter, and it's composed mostly of hydrogen and helium, similar to the sun but it has cold, windy clouds of ammonia and water" Lily turned back to Remus.

Remus in turn was studying Wendy's face, it was true, she was gorgeous and he knew the name from somewhere, he just needed to think more about it and then he'd remember. "Um, yeah that's good thanks Lily and..." Wendy answered him, but she didn't look up form her drawing. 

"Wendy"

"Thankyou then Wendy and Lily" 

Lily nodded in acknowledgement, Wendy just ignored it all, focussed on her drawing. The four boys walked off, once outside of the library they bombarded Remus with questions.

"So she is gorgeous right?"

"Do you recognise her?"

"How do we not know her.... how has Padfoot not slept with her yet" 

Remus looked at James incredulously, Sirius just nodding in agreement, Remus rolled his eyes at their antics,

"Well, she is gorgeous, no I don't recognise her much, I don't know, it's not like we make it our mission to meet people, and really James?" 

All three boys just nodded, not acknowledging the last question.

A/N- was this chapter good, idk, btw does anyone know how to smell snapes mean nickname Snivellus, I spell it like this but I'm worried its wrong 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
