KARL'S POV

As I arrived at school, my heart sank as I spotted the very individuals who have made my life a living hell. They were congregated around my locker, a place where I should feel safe and secure. My mind raced with thoughts of how to avoid them, but alas, I knew it was inevitable. As I cautiously approached my locker, Techno, the ringleader, barked at me, "What do you think you're doing?" I froze, unsure of how to respond. Before I could even gather my bearings, I felt a swift blow to the eye, causing me to crumple to the floor in agony. As if that weren't enough, I was then kicked in the side, leaving me defenseless and vulnerable. I braced myself for another attack, but to my surprise, a kind soul came to my aid. I felt a gentle hand on my shoulder as I was helped to sit up, my spirits lifted by this unexpected show of compassion.

"Hey, are you okay? That was a stupid question of course you're not you just got punched..." The person helps me up and leads me to the nurses office.

The boy informed the nurse of what had happened. He was calm and collected, his voice ringing with authority and confidence. It was clear that he knew what he was doing, and I felt a sense of gratitude wash over me.

As the nurse tended to my injuries, I felt something cold and soothing on my eye. It was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, and I could finally breathe easy again. "Is your eye okay?" the nurse asked me, her voice filled with concern.

"Yea, I'll be fine," I answered, relieved that someone was finally showing me some kindness. But when she asked if she needed to call my parents, I hesitated.

"Uh- no, they're at work. They are very busy, I don't think they want to be bothered," I answered hesitantly, unsure of what to do next.

"Okay honey, take this ice and sit on the bench in the hall, stay there for first period and let the swelling go down," the nurse instructed me, her voice soothing and calm.

As I made my way to the bench in the hallway, I saw Sapnap waiting for me outside. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked me, his voice filled with concern.

"I will be, I just have one question. Why did you help me?" I asked him, still bewildered by his kindness.

"Why wouldn't I?" he questioned, his words ringing true. "It's just, no one has ever done that... No one has ever stuck up for me like that. I, um, I'm Karl," I said, introducing myself.

"Well I think more people should have that decency to help out," he said, his words calming me down.

"Oh yea, I'm Nick by the way! I like to be called Sapnap though," he added, smiling at me.

"Thank you," I said to him gratefully, feeling a sense of warmth and gratitude wash over me.

"It's no problem man," he replied, his voice soothing and reassuring.
"You should probably head to class." I say, not wanting him to get in trouble because of me. "Sure, do you want to get lunch with me?" He asks and my face lights up. "Yea, of course!" I say

I sit on the bench waiting for 1st to be over, when I hear the bell ring. The halls flood with people as I finally see Sapnap heading out of his class. I wave. "Hi!" I say. "Hello!" I stand up and he offers to walk with me to my locker incase Techno comes around to try and get revenge. We get to my locker and luckily he wasn't there. I got my stuff and Sapnap and I luckily had the same second period. We got to class and I found out that Sapnap sat to the right and one behind me.

History. My least favorite subject, I didn't even have a favorite subject I just hated history. The entire class I was just sitting in my chair slumped down watching the clock, waiting to finally be done with this boring class. I almost fell asleep a couple of times, but I got myself together and I took a few sips of my blue monster before setting it on the ground next to me.

It was finally time for lunch. I got all of my things and I stood up. Then Sapnap came up to me. "Hey! Are you ready for lunch?" Sapnap asked. "Yes! I have never been more excited for lunch in my whole life!" Sapnap and I laughed and headed to his locker so he could put his stuff away before we headed to mine, my locker was closer to the cafeteria so we went to his first.

As we got in line for lunch we talked to pass the time. After we got our food we went to pay. "I'll pay for both." Sapnap told me. "You don't have to do that." I answered quickly. "Too bad, I'm doing it anyway." Sapnap chuckled. I rolled my eyes before we made it up to the cashier lady and Sapnap paid. We then went to find a seat. We found one empty table in the corner. I started eating and stole a glance of Sapnap. I really am thankful that he helped me. I kept eating and talking to Sapnap before we heard the bell ring. We got up and walked to throw out our leftover food.

"That was nice. Having someone to sit with" I say. "Yea, it was. I don't really have any friends, so I was hoping I could finally have one." Sapnap responded. "Well I think we could be good friends." "Me too"
