Hecates PoV

I focused on July 14th and dived into her head a few seconds later.

A huge, modern house was building up before my eyes.
Its walls were white as snow. The large open window below gave me a view of the interior. I carefully stepped closer. What I saw there made me put my hands over my mouth in shock.

A short-haired blonde woman, whose curls harmonized perfectly with her style of clothing, pushed a little girl with concentrated force against the living room glass cabinet.

The glass shattered.
As a result, part of it bored deep into the child's left palm. It fell to the floor, whimpering.

The blood oozed out over her snow-white skin.

The woman gave a sardonic laugh and left the poor thing alone.
Without thinking, I put my fingers through the open window to help the child.
But the picture began to flicker uncontrollably.

When I realized that this little girl was my Eli, I wanted to cry out.
How could anyone do that to her?
Eli was still so small and completely defenseless.
I felt the first tears roll down my cheeks.

,, Eli mouse. I'm here. ", I whispered choked and tried to reach out to her again.

It began to flicker again.
Just stronger this time.

After that I was dragged into a dark undertow.

I couldn't see anything.
However, I heard faint sobs close by.
I slowly followed the sound until I came to a stop in front of a locked door.

I hesitated for a moment before gently pressing the door handle down and looking carefully through the gap.

Someone was sitting on the floor with their back to me crying.

I swallowed when I made out the outline of my favorite.
She sat huddled together and howled the soul out of her body.

The sight of it stabbed me in the chest.

If only there was something I could comfort her with.

I slowly sat down next to Eli.
I carefully put an arm around her waist, leaning my head on hers and not noticing how the trembling of her body was less.

Deep in my thoughts, I stroked her arm.

I loved this woman way too much.
she alone was the reason why I liked to wake up every morning and found myself grinning stupidly in the mirror as soon as I tied my hair up in a bun.

Whenever I left my room, I put on a cool mask so that no one would notice that I was madly in love.

After all, I was considered the strictest teacher in the entire academy, so I had to be careful that nothing changed.

,, Hecate? "A hesitant voice broke my thoughts.

I felt my pulse beating higher and higher.

Hearing my name out of her mouth made my heart swell.

Since I didn't move, Eli nudged me in the side and I gave a startled squeak.
my gaze wandered down with pounding hearts.

Her beautiful olive green eyes sparkled invitingly at me.
I sighed and held her gaze.

"Yes?" I breathed hoarsely and with every second it became harder for me to think more clearly.
so much had she captivated me with her gaze.

"I would like you ...", she started stuttering and stopped abruptly.
Her cheeks literally glowed.
She quickly sank, shaking her head.
"It's not that important.", She continued quietly.

I carefully put a hand around her chin and lifted it up to make her look at me.
"For me it is. ", I whispered with a smile and whispered teasingly in her ear:" So? Is it about our wedding? "
Eli sat up straight and looked at me with wide eyes.

,, N..no. that was just a stupid d...dream. Please forget about it again quickly! I just wanted to know what you're looking for in my head. "

Before I could answer, we found ourselves in an old city.

We looked at each other in confusion.
When someone scuttled past us with a deep-drawn hood, I smelled a faint fig smell.
Countless butterflies tingled in my stomach.

Just as I hurried behind the scent, Eli pulled me out of the trance.
"What are we doing here anyway?" She called in my direction.
only now did I notice the dark alley we had walked into.
A strange feeling spread inside me.

A feeling that told me we shouldn't be here.

"July 14th.", I replied in awe and watched as Eli looked around searchingly. Because in the photo she was seen with exactly the same hood as in this memory.

"We have to go after her!" I whispered softly.
We kept up with her quickly.
A few minutes later we stopped in front of a shabby shop.
Detective agency Hook private investigator I read on the wooden board that was attached to the doorknob with a cord.

I took a deep breath and entered the room with Eli.
