Brielle is cast as Kat in Newsies. Kat is an idea I had for a character instead of Katherine. I love Katherine, but I wanted this role to be bigger and have more dancing. Kat is Pulitzer's niece but her family never got along with him. Pulitzer's sister died in childbirth and Kat's father was a reporter for Pulitzer, but he wasn't afraid to speak his mind. This led to his arrest and starvation, leaving Kat to fend for herself on the street when she was 9. She met Jack Kelly and they have been very close friends ever since. Kat dresses as a boy to sell papes, but the newsies all know that she is a girl. Kat gets two songs instead of Watch What Happens, both from other musicals. One of her songs is Distant Melody from Peter Pan (the Cathy Rigby version) and one is Monster from Frozen.
