Kate was there waiting in her dressing room, and the two shared a big hug. Brielle hadn't seen her in a month because she'd been so busy, so she was overjoyed to see her fellow Mad Hatter friend.
"Oh, Bri," Kate said, smiling at the small girl in front of her, "you were absolutely showstopping up there. I'm so proud of you. Your voice, your characterization, your little movements, just everything was so so perfect."
"Kate," Brielle whined, breaking down in tears all over again.
"Awww, look how cute," Jose said, coming into the dressing room without knocking.
"Jose!" Brielle exclaimed. "What if I was changing?"
"Whatever," Jose said, waving his hand. "It's not like there's anything I haven't seen. Anyway, are you all packed?"
"Ya. I brought most of my stuff home yesterday, now it's just costume and make-up stuff. I'll probably leave most of it for Grace." Grace was going to be Brielle's replacement. She had previously been a standby for the Mad Hatter, and Brielle was very excited for her. "I just need to pack up these flowers and gifts and stuff."
"You can do that after you stage door," Jose said.
"Who said I was stage dooring?"
"I did, now come on."
"Go have fun," Kate said, smiling softly at Brielle. "Jose will be right there with you. You can be out there for just 20 minutes and then come right back inside. I'm going back to my place to get it ready for your party."
"Ok," Brielle said with a sigh. "Thanks for coming, Kate. See you tonight." Kate and Brielle hugged once more before Brielle took a deep breath and made her way to the stage door with Jose. Brielle had only stage doored once before because of how tired she was after shows, so she was definitely a little nervous to go outside. She shot a quick dm to Becca that if the group wanted to stay longer, they could come inside and wait 20 minutes and Brielle would give them a tour after stage dooring.
"That was exhausting," Brielle said as she and Jose went back inside.
"You did great, Bri," Jose said, giving Brielle a gentle side hug. "I'm gonna go pack up your gifts and get my stuff together, I'll come to you when I'm ready."
"Ok, see ya."
Brielle made her way towards a group of excited newsies. She laughed as they all congratulated her and brought her into a big hug. She thanked them all with a big smile on her face.
"So, who wants a tour?" she asked. Everyone said they would love a tour, so Brielle led them all downstairs first.
"These are our wonderful risers, we have 3. I only enter from these back 2...And over here we have the costume and wig departments. Hey Christi! And these are my wonderful wigs...And over here we have all the Mad Hatter costumes that were taken down from my dressing room after the show tonight. Kind of sad. Anyway, ya that's the downstairs... and now coming back up here we can look at all the fun sets! Over here is- I'm so sorry, can you give me a second? It's my work phone; I have to answer it." Brielle moved away from the group and quickly picked up. "Hello, this is Brielle Stoll, how may I help you? Oh, hey Tom. What's up? No... no no no... this is a joke, right? Ughhhh... ya I know, I just- I just hoped they'd wait a little longer... ugh this is so fucking stupid! What am I supposed to do? Ok... ya ok... I know I know, this isn't your fault... ok I'll be in touch... ok thank you. Bye." Brielle hung up her phone and tried not to cry.
