You probably can't imagine my surprise as I listen to Cathy, Alex, and Jack fight. I mean, really? C'mon guys. What are the odds of my sister and best friends being (what looks like) mortal enemies.
The bus stops at my bus stop, and, wow, I have never seen Cathy run so agitated. Yeah, that's right. I know what agitated means. At least I think I do... It's hard to pay attention in English, okay?! I already know the language, so why teach it to me.
Anyway, I run off the bus and catch up with Cathy.
"Dude, what's wrong?" I say as I walk beside her. Her hands are clenched in a fist; knuckles white.
"Why are you even friends with those -" She ponders for a minute, thinking of the right word. "-those neandrathalian idiots?!"
"First off, they're not neandrathalian. Alex's part Italian, and Jack is a bit German. Second off, I don't know. We were friends before they were jerks and after." I say. Cathy just rolls her eyes and walks away; her black (what are the odds) book bag swung over her shoulder.
"Cath-whoah." I look around and see trees upon trees. Normal, but something's off about these trees. They're singing. Just kidding. These trees are birch; something not seen in my part of Maine. Usually it's pine, pine, and more pine.
"TT??" Cathy asks.
"Yeah?"
"WHERE THE BLAZES ARE WE?!?!?!" Her voice echoes throughout the, uh, forest? Mountains are on every side but behind us, trapping us in a bowl. As I said before, there's birch trees, which outline the bowl. There's a small path between the mountains; the area where we came from.
"I don't know." I answer.
"So you don't know how to get home?" She asks,
"Uuuuuuuhhhhhh.....not really..." I answer.
"So we're lost in the middle of no where, with only..." She looks at her watch. "...about 1 hour until sundown. Perfect. Just perfect." She throws her bag to the base of a tree.
"Well, on the bright side, tomorrow's Saturday, so there's no school." I say. Cathy glares at me.
"TT!! Don't you get it?! We are stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no food, water, or shelter!! WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!!"
"I don't think we'll die after one night."
"But we don't know the way back, so we're gonna stay here longer than a day!"
"Cat, we're gonna be fine."
"Don't call me Cat."
"Fine. What can I call you? Cathy's to long."
