Chapter Ten

I flicker my eyes open. I’m in the hospital again. And I feel achy and exhausted. I rub my eyes only to wince at the touch of my left cheek.

I check for any of other harm. I feel for my stitches, they weren’t there. I’m okay.

The door opens and Andrew walks in. A few purple and blue bruise, but no major damage to him. He also looks tired but he wasn’t in a hospital gown.

“Hey.” His voice boomed through my wee hospital room.

“Is Niall okay?” Andrew’s eyes wander away from mine and to the murky windows.

“He’s fine, just a broken arm…” I shut my eyes in anger. I brought my problems to Niall and now he is hurt because of me.

JUST? I think to myself. He places himself on to the only chair in the room and continues.

“Look Claire, I never ever want to hurt you physically or emotionally. I know realise what alcohol can do and how it manipulates people. I am so sorry. I didn’t realise until I was in a gurney getting rolled around the hospital about to die.” He looks away with tears in his watery eyes out to the view again.

I grab his hands and his eyes meet mine. It was my opportunity to say something.

“I know how much you care about me. But I’m so sick of this.” As I signal to my cheek.

“I hope you get through this. It was be immensely difficult but I know you can do it and I will support you. I just don’t think we can do this.”

“What do you mean this?”

“I mean our relationship.”

I fiddle with my fingers, not wanting to make eye contact.

“Oh."

” He sighs but doesn’t seem surprised.

“I love you but I love Niall and Niall loves me. I hope you understand.”

"I apologized to Niall, we talked & I understand. I’ll always love you, Claire.”

I look up feeling tears trickle down. He stands, wipes a tear away and kisses me on the forehead then heads for the exit

I sigh and close my eyes and rest.
