"Plenty of people enjoy picnics on the lawn, especially in the spring and fall." Charlize said. ( She's pretty well-versed in campus culture, isn't she? I wonder if i'll be like that when i'm a sophomore? Or will i just be so focused on balancing school and work that i won't have time for extracurricular? )
"And these are the student dorms! They're pretty fancy, as far as dormitories go. All rooms are singles with walk in closets, a kitchenette, and a full sized bathroom." ( Wow, that's kind of insane for a dorm. I kind of wish i signed up for on-campus housing... But there really wasn't a point. I live close anyway. Then again, it's a staple of college life everywhere. )
I fight the urge to sigh in a group setting and turn my focus back on Charlize. We continue around campus, and i do my best to familiarize myself with the buildings.
"Hey, you didn't mention that building over there" Someone said. "Yeah! It's huge and looks ritzy as hell." some freshmen chimed in. "That's the Versailles Executive Club's Chateau. You need to be a member to get in. "Charlize explained.
I gaze at the building, stunned by the sheer amount of money poured into it. "How do we get in? That looks nice."
"There's a vetting policy that includes a household income audit, so it's not really for students. While you can still apply, if you're not at like the Abercromp or Delacroix social level, you probably won't make it in." Charlize said with a small smile.( Wow.. I knew it was hard, but to think there'd be an audit? I guess i can kiss those connections goodbye. )
"Seriously?! That's so elitist." The girl said. "I definitely sympathize, but this university is sort of known for that." Charlize gives the girl a pat on the shoulder before continuing the tour.
The tour finished just as my watch beeps. "Thanks for the tour." i said. "Anytime! If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to come to me. See you around!" Charlize walks off, and i pull out my phone. ( Too bad i didn't think to get her number.. ) I notice i have a bunch of message notifications and three missed calls.
( Jeez, Alek couldn't wait until orientation was over? But he probably wants- )
"Y/n! I've been looking everywhere for you. Did you get my messages?" The kind looking guy said. "I tried calling you, but you didn't answer." I sigh. "I was attending orientation, Alek. Something i noticed you weren't at."
"Hahaha, yeah, i skipped. I had a meeting with my agent earlier. And then i wanted to meet up with one of the professors."Alex gets closer and my heart flops in my chest. He wraps me in a tight hug. "I missed you though. It's been a while since we spoke." I carefully and reluctantly pull away.
"We probably shouldn't hug on campus.. Don't want you're fangirls to find out and cry." I smile.
"You're probably right. It’s just.. Been awhile." Alek smiles slightly. "Did you think about our last conversation?"
I gave him an awkward smile. "I did, but i probably don't have the answer you want right now. I just started university, i'm working every opportunity i get.. Simply put, i guess, is that i don't think i'm ready for a boyfriend right now.. you understand, right?" Alex looks at me sadly.
"You're the most hardworking woman i know, Y/n. Of course i understand, even if i'm a little sad." He gives me a sweet smile.
Alek's watch beeps, and he promptly smacks himself on the forehead. "I can't believe i almost forgot. We need to hurry if we're gonna make it."
Alek starts walking, and i hurry to keep up. "I pulled some strings, waved my fingers, did some magic and~" I looked at him confused.
"I managed to get you into the Versailles Executive Club." I gasp in surprise. "No way! I heard they do an audit and everything."
"Not if the great Aleksander Meyer vouches on his honor. And uh.. Do a few other things." Alek looks away, and i squint at him. "Was it anything illegal?"
"Probably not, but i know how important this is for your career. You would've been in there anyway, if your father's business hadn't been run into the ground.." You gave him an irritated look.
"Ehh, the new student meeting starts in like, ten minutes." He said trying to change the subject. "Are there any dues?" You ask. "Taken care off."
"What?! You didn't need to do that, Alek." Alek winks at you.
"I didn't say i paid for you, did i? I said they were taken care of. Atleast for this year. The connections you'll make in this club are worth it though, absolutely. These are people that'll be controlling all the country's top businesses in just a decade or so."
( It really is huge. How can this just be a clubhouse? )
"What i don't get though.." Alek looks at me curiously. "Why did they pick a name like 'Versailles' as their club name? The rich folks of Versailles didn't excactly have a happy ending after the french revolution."
Alek chuckles and shoots me a wry smile. "I don't think the members care about implications here. They might even be-" Alek stops speaking as someone approaches us from behind.
We both turn to see Nicolas walking up to us. "Glad to see you again, Aleksander." The black haired boy said.
