P.O.V. Scarlett

What the hell was that bitch doing in our playroom?

And dead?!

Why would someone kill her there?

My mind was starting to go round and round.

It seemed like I was inside a sinister nightmare and the worst kind.

- Scarlett? - Dad's hand on my shoulder took me out of my stupor, he looked at me seriously.

Yes?

- I need to go see Vinnie...

- I'll go with you. - I interrupted you.

- No Scarlett, Vinnie said you'd better stay home.

- Doesn't he want me there? - He never rubbed.

- We both think it's better if you stay home, the police department is no place for you.

- Fuck you two, I'll go!

- Scarlett! - He grunted. I took a deep breath trying to calm my temper, my father was not to blame, but Vinnie would listen! Oh, if you would...

- Sorry, Dad. I just... can't wait here, I need to go, Vinnie... he needs me.

- Scarlett... - he started, but I denied it.

- Either let me go, or as soon as you leave through that door, I'll go after...

- You don't know which police station he's at.

- Well, then I'll go to everyone who exists, until I find... - he narrowed his eyes, I raised his chin, seeing that I wouldn't give up, sighed rubbing his hand on his forehead.

- Go get your coat, I'll wait in the car.

- Yes, Dad! - I ran upstairs getting any coat, fortunately I was already wearing jeans and sneakers.

Upon arriving at the garage, I opened the car door and went in, dad was talking to someone on the phone, when he hung up he started and we left.

- Who were you talking to?

- A friend of mine, he's a criminalist, will help Vinnie.

- Great. Is he good?

- A lot! Larray Merritt, you've never lost a case. Even when the guy is guilty. - He grumbled and twisted my nose.

- Vinnie is not guilty! - He looked at me squintly.

- She was found naked and tied up in his game room, Scarlett.

And? Someone put her there. - It was the most obvious explanation.

Scarlett, my Scarlett is not a murderer.

- Do you really believe in him?

- Of course, aren't you? - He laughed.

- I believe Scarlett, although he didn't tell me if he killed her or not.

- He didn't kill her! - I grunt vehemently.

- Good to think so dear, Vinnie needs people who believe in him, because many don't go.

I kept quiet thinking about that.

Dad was right, many would blame Vinnie, but he wouldn't do that, he didn't, I know he wouldn't.

But who then? And why? Well, obviously stop blaming him, but who would hate him so much as to kill someone else?

I rubbed my face with my hands, what hell during the day. And it had started so well.
