On the roof, late at night
Looking out on the beautiful sight
Conversing about old times
Laughing about long gone rhymes
You pull me close and keep me sheltered
Sheltered from the storm
The storm that lies inside my head
The storm that wishes I was dead
You pushed that storm away
Even just with one text
You left me wondering what was next
A thousand miles between us, maybe two
But what's going on between me and you?
Just friends or maybe more?
If you want me to leave, show me the door
But I dream of a time when we're mere inches apart
Laughing and smiling with out a care
Being ourselves and deep breathing the air
Up on that roof, looking over the sky
Waiting to soar sky high
And when you look into my eyes
And I look into yours
I'll be safe from that storm
Just like the many times before
But sadly, a dream is all that will be
Because there's a country between you and me
