I stayed in my parents room for a bit, and can you believe it? I'm 9 years old now! It's been 2 years since Theo and I have been friends. Nothing could tear us apart! I ran outside of my parents room to look for Theo. He's my first best friend, I wanna spend my birthday with him! I ran down stairs, and boom there he was! "THEOOOO!!" I yelled while running to him with my arms out. "Hey!! I have something for you, come here" he told me while bringing us to the living room.
He took out this paper bag. "It isn't much, but I hope you like it!" he told me while I opened the paper bag. There was a paper box and an envelope inside it. Ooh, a letter and... a ring? it was like a waning crescent moon. "Okay so, I made us promise rings! A promise that we would be friends forever and won't leave each other. And, look look! If we put our rings together, it makes a full moon!" he said. I finally understood English good enough to know what he would say even if he was excitedly rushing. "Thank you, Theo!! I really like it. I also promise that we would be friends forever!" I said enthusiastically while jumping around. Theo told me to read the letter, so I did.
"Happy 9th birthday, Ashi! I really enjoyed being your friend and you are really fun to play with. Thank you for being someone I could hang out with! Hopefully in the future I could get you a better gift, but did you know that you're the best gift for me, Ashi? You brought light to my life. I hope we would be friends up until the end. Happy birthday Ashi!"
