You got to be fucking kidding me.
That Bitch
"Have you seen this?" I ask Killian, showing him the Instagram story Alice Constance just put on.
"Whoops. I guess that's why she slapped you today." He says laughing.
"Didn't you tell me they stopped communicating?"
That bitch. That's the only thing coming through my mind.
Am I angry because she rejected me? Not that much.
Am I angry that she did that because she's still fucking my brother? Fuck yes.
"Wait. Did she tell you why she slapped me?" I ask him and he nods.
That bitch.
"Listen. You have the entire school at your feet. Why don't you erase her from your mind?" He asks me and I know I should do it, but she just became my new favourite game. The hell I was going to drop it.
"Yeah sure. Don't you know me at all?" I tell him and he rolls his eyes.
"You can't be a jerk to her the first time you talk to her, then kiss her and then get mad if she's with someone else. Make peace with your mind." He says and no matter how high he is right now, he's the most lucid of all.
"Whatever." I say. I open up the bottle of whisky from the kitchen.
"Man you shouldn't mix. You know that." He says but I laugh because he's mumbling and he doesn't even know where we are right now.
"I'll tell you what I'm going to do. Drink a bit of this and then I'm going to Some chick and get laid. Sounds like a plan right?" I ask him but I don't really care about his answer because the alcohol is already travelling through my throat.
I keep watching that fucking Instagram story. I don't even follow her on Instagram. It's pathetic.
I write to Alicia, another chick from school and of course she's up for some fun...not everyone is as messed up as Alice Constance is.
I take the keys from Grayson's bike and I run out of the house.
Maybe it wasn't a good idea mixing. Maybe Killian was right this time.
Everything it's blurred. I see two lights in front of me, but it bothers my sight, so I turn slightly to the left and the on my thing I remember it's a crash and the dark. When I open my eyes, I'm not home. And I'm not at Alicia's place because I've been there before and those white walls don't fit her barbie personality.
My whole body hurts.
When I try to focus on the voices I hear I open my eyes more and I see in the corner of the room a girl. Alicia? No she would never wear jeans and hoodies.
"Good morning princess." Her voice is amused but gentle at the same time.
"Am I dreaming?" I say and she laughs. She stand up and comes closer.
"Hit your head pretty badly uh?" She says and I pretend not to feel shitty as I try to get up a bit.
"Easy easy. Wait, I'll call the nurse." She says, but I stop her taking her hand.
"What are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be in New York?" I ask her mumbling through the pain.
She nods.
"I was actually. But the hospital called your brother because the bike is registered to him and he drove us here." She says.
That's just perfect.
Perfect Grayson is here to lecture me and to make me feel like a failure again.
"No one is pressing charges for what I heard. You were lucky." She says. She's actually being nice.
"Good. I guess the only one who should be pressing charges is you." I tell her and she looks confused.
"For interrupting your fun." I explain my self.
"You're like a serial killer now. We're at three times now. Not a problem though." I didn't realise her fingers were still wrapped around mine, so I pull her closer.
"You know, I thought you were smarter...if you wanted some, you should have just ask. Between us, I'm way bigger than my brother." I say but I immediately regret it, not because it's a lie but because it weird talking with her about sec when I know she just slept with him.
"Shut up Adrian." She says pushing me gently away and laughs. I laugh with her because every way she has to bother me, I can take that as long as I hear that heavenly sound.
Heavenly? Damn. I'm fucked.
Grayson gets in the room and I notice that her face gets immediately serious. She doesn't want him to know that we know each other? He gets closer to her, but she slightly steps back.
"Wait for me in the hall, I'll get you home." He whispers but she's cold as ice as she tells him that she'll walk home.
"Wow. Troubles in heaven uh?" I joke and he gives me a deadly look. I should have stayed quiet.
"They're not pressing charges. The bike is going to get fixed...and you'll get home in a few hours." He says. Okay. No lecture yet?
"What the hell were you thinking Holden? Really? Pot and alcohol? Did something happen to make you loose your shit like that?" He starts and I roll my eyes.
Yeah. Something did happen. Your girls is stuck in my head now and she keeps influencing my moods just like she is the most important thing in the world.
No. I can't tell him that right? Especially since something happened between them.
"It's nothing Grayson. Nothing happened. Everyone is safe. Let's go back to ignoring each other uh?" I tell him and I know I shouldn't push it because he is really pissed off. I can tell it by the way is trying not to raise his voice and not to punch me in the face.
"Get changed. I'm taking you home and then I'll go back to New York." He says and exits the room, smashing the door.
Wow. Okay.
I get my phone and I can't help but texting her on Instagram.
"Something tells me I didn't interrupt much uh?"
Sent.
I wait a few minutes but not a reply. Maybe she's still here? Or maybe she just doesn't want to talk to me like she said multiple times.
Just when I was about to put the phone away I see she replied.
"Who is this?" She says and I laugh.
"Holden" I text back
"Holden who?"
I play along.
"You may know me as His royal Highness Holden Adrian Maverick"
"Why is royalty sliding in my dms?" And I can't help but laugh.
"Shut it baby"
"Not your baby." She texts
For now...for now baby.
"Are you still around?" I ask and she sends me a picture of the Park outside of the hospital.
"Wait there." I tell her and I get changed as fast as I can. My chest hurts terribly...my head as well and my left leg too. But somehow it's all numbed up. Probably because of the adrenaline rushing through my veins.
I sneak out of the room and I get out without anyone catching me.
She's there. For a second I thought she left.
Why wouldn't she?
I sit on the bench next to her.
"I wonder how am I so lucky to meet royalty twice in a day." She says without looking at me.
"Don't have an answer for that" I say and she giggles.
"You're a mistery to me Holden Adrian Maverick. But I don't know if I want to unravel you." She says to me and tilts her head to look at me. Somehow the atmosphere gets heavy. I can feel it and she can to so she stands up and goes next to the fountain.
"There's nothing to unravel. You however. You're way more complex to figure out." I tell her and she laughs.
"There's nothin to figure out. I'm just a girl." She says and I can feel that something hurt her pretty badly but I don't think It had something to do with me. We sit there. No sounds if not the one from the water fountain and some kids running in the park.
"Did he hurt you?" I ask out of the blue and she shakes her head, but I can tell she's lying to me.
"I just thought that it could be easy to start from where we left off, but we are two different people now...with different lives and different people in it. I'm always goig to be the sixteen year old girl with a big crush for him."
Makes sense I guess. They're just too different to work together. But we are different too. I don't want things to work we'll between us, but I like to have her around because she drives me crazy.
"You know that he'll be pissed off not to find you there?" She asks. I nod while laughing. There is a tiny little moment in which our eyes meet, but I can see her blush and then she looks back down.
"You hide from me." I say without thinking and she start playing with her feet.
"I hide from everyone." She says and I slowly reach her fingers, just as I did in the hospital room.
"You shouldn't. But if you feel like hiding, I always loved playing hide and seek."
I can't tell if she's embarrassed, speechless or just not impressed, but her face make me want to grab it as kiss every inch of it.
"We're not kids anymore. Don't you think?" She says while standing up.
"We are whatever we want to be Alice." I tell her believing every single word I pronounce.
"Goodnight your royal highness." She says making a little cute bow. I understand it's time to let her go, before we screw up again.
"Night baby." I tell her and she laughs, but this time there is no middle finger, no "I'm not your baby" or any kind of resistance.
One little step forward.
