Losing my Cool

"Tol!" Harry nodded his head kay Gabby.

Gabby grimaced, or was trying to act normal pero Sophie could see through it. And this was just making her more awkawrd.

"Ahh... uhmm.. diba Harry gusto mo makita yung plan namin so coming grad ball? kunin muna natin sa SC room. "Sophie made up a lame excuse.

Harry looked at her with a big questionmark on his face. Before he could answer hinila siya ni Sophie paalis sa bench.

Naglakad ng mabilis si Sophie. She could feel Gabby's glare sa likod niya. She felt like her face was on fire. It was the first encounter with Gabby since nagtapat siya. She knew she did not handle it too well and she knows Gabby can see that she was just making things up.

When they were finally out of Gabby's sight, nagtago sila sa likod ng building and she sighed in relief.

"So, what was that all about?" tanong ni Harry.

"Ah.. uhm.. kasi may konting misunderstanding lang kami ni Gabby. I'm trying to avoid confrontation lang. " Sophie answered Harry, i mean, totoo naman yung sinasabi niya. She was trying to avoid confrontation, but to Harry's expence.

"Well, i hope ma fix niyo whatever is going on between you two. I don't want to meddle." Harry said and gave Sophie a light tap and winked at her. "Gotta go Sophie."

Whatever happened that day seem to have made it even worse. Although it made it so easy to avoid Gabby since she felt that Gabby was avoiding her and glaring at her from afar the whole week sa klase. It was hard not having to share him about her worries.

G, why is this happening to me? Why do I have to be put in this situation? I know i'm not handling it right. Please give help me out. Sophie silently prayed kay G.

"Miss Cepeda, Mr. Luna, can I have a word with you?" tinawag sila ng Science teacher nila.

Sophie looked behind her to look at Gabby pero he just gave her a blank look.

"May inter-school science fair tayo na sasalihan and your project was chosen to represent sa school being you're project received a lot of applause from the judges. I just need you guys to revise the case study, we'll go through it together and make some changes and submit it to the board sa inter-school science fair. " Sabi ni Ms. Rodriguez, our science adviser.

"Pero Ma'am, we won second place naman sa contest. How about Roma's work? They did an excellent job that time too. " Sophie suggested.

"Of course Sophie, they will represent the school sa nationals na. This will bring honor to our school. And being that you both are graduating student, this would be a great hightlight sa high school records niyo. " sagot ni Ms. Rodriguez.

" Wow, oo nga. Sure Mam'am count me in. " Sophie turned and look at Gabby's optmistic face.

"Ha? Uhm.. " Sophie added reluctantly.

"Is there a problem Ms. Cepeda?"

"Nothing Ms. I'm just worried.. with the science fair, tapos planning the grad ball then this.. I'm scared that we'll drown from all this work. "

"Kaya natin yan Sophie. Magtutulungan naman tayo eh. " sagot ni Gabby as if parang walang nangyari.

" Uhm.. Okay."

"Sophie!" Gabby called out on their way out sa classroom, she was walking with Aimee.

"Sophie, relax!" Aimee whispered.

"Yes, Gabby?" Sophie turned and answered without looking, nagpa as-if na nag scoscroll sa IG ng posts.

"Umm.. pwede ba tayo mag meet after class para sa case study natin?" Gabby cleared his voice para tumingin si Sophie.

"I'm kinda busy Gabby eh.. with the school ball and all.. teka.. "

"Ok lang yan bestie, I can take charge muna while you're away." Aimee offered.

"Sophie, sandali lang naman tayo magmemeet para sa project natin. Pwede mo isama si Aimee kung di ka comfortable.. "

"Ha? Bakit naman ako magiging uncomfortable..?" Sophie answered as if di obvious sa mukha niya.

"Mabuti, so meet tayo bukas nalang after class? Para pwede ka makapag meeting sa SC today, may trabaho ako ngayon sa café eh. Pero i'll make sure na I-highlight ko na yung i.eedit natin." Suggest ni Gabby. Tapos umalis na. "Sige Sophie, bye Aimee."

Umalis na si Gabby.

"Sophie that was not cool. Not cool at all." Aimee shooked her head.
