Green is the New Black (Astrid)

chapter two

"Look, there she is," Blaise whispers, pointing at a tall girl with long, black hair who was standing in the mix of first years.

"Nicolette Black," Professor McGonagall announces.

"Did they say Black? Like Sirius Black?" Johnny asks quietly.

"Yeah, I think so," Blaise replies.

"Would you guys shut up? I wanna see where she gets sorted," I tell the boys. They both chuckle quietly then stop talking.

"Slytherin!" the Sorting Hat shouts.

Everyone from Slytherin gets up and cheers. From the corner of my eye, I see Blaise get up and leave to the Slytherin common room which is where our friend group spends most of their free time.

I look next to me at Johnny who was clapping and cheering even though he isn't in Slytherin. As I look at his hair color, facial features, and eye color, I say, "I'm not kidding Pony, you would look really good with red hair!"

Everyone sits down and then he turns to me. "Blondie, I'm not dying my hair red!"

"But it would look so good! It could be your racing stripe, Ponyboy!" I shout over the noise.

"I agree with him, it wouldn't be attractive," someone comments quietly. I turn around and look at the new girl who had taken a seat next to me.

"See! Even the new girl thinks so," Johnny says excitedly. I ignore him and continue looking at the girl, sizing her up, trying to figure out who she is.

"Astrid Longbottom." I stick my hand out, silently asking her to shake it.

"Nicolette Black," she replies as she shakes my hand.

"Johnny." The blond boy sitting next to me smiles and waves at Nicolette. She waves back. "So, what's your story?" Johnny asks.

"I'm sixteen years old and I started school at Beauxboton's Academy where I was bullied and hated. I was top of my class before switching," she answered. Ay pobrecita.

"She sounds like Hermione," Johnny whispers. I nod and look at the girl again.

"Follow us," I say.
