Hitoshi is stumbling away from the gym, desperate to be anywhere but there. He had slapped Aizawa away. The look on his teacher's face showed shock. Shock that Hitoshi had the nerve to hit him, to push him away.

The world around him was whirling and it took Hitoshi a moment before he realised it was because he was falling, landing roughly on soft grass, looking up into a roof of trees as wind rustled the leaves around. He vaguely remembered having stumbled into the park he had spent the past night in.

God, he had thought things were going well. He had hoped. Hitoshi knew better than to hope, look where it got him.

He never should have gone to get ramen with Aizawa, never should have gone home. Never should have pulled himself out of the house. He should have died there.

Breathe, Hitoshi

But he can't

Once again, Hitoshi had run.

What was wrong with him? That he couldn't accept a hand on his forehead? A simple touch, that's all. He was meant to be a hero but he ran.

Hitoshi had spent his whole life running and he was so tired of it. Tired of looking over his shoulder as he exhausted himself trying to flee from what.

It was pathetic, Hitoshi was pathetic.

Shuddering breaths wracked his form, tearing out of his throat as pain filled his senses. Calm down, Hitoshi.

As the sun set, Hitoshi was distantly aware of the wind picking up, sending shivers through his already trembling body. It brought the fresh scent of rain, coolness settling around him as the looming clouds cast the world in gray.

It felt like an age before Hitoshi's breathing evened out, gasping breaths turning into stuttered but deep ones. He raised his head to take in the surroundings he had stumbled into. The park was silent and empty, long since having been vacated by any other souls.

The fog on Hitoshi's mind lifted a bit. He needed to find shelter, to go back to the house to...

Aiko.

He had forgotten.

Hitoshi had forgotten about the danger, about his sister.

She could be... he left her and she was in danger, she could be-

Footsteps echo in Hitoshi's ears and it's a second before he realises the sound is caused by him, shoes pounding the pavement as he races home.

Protect her.

Find her.

No matter the cost.

The world is blurring and merging around him, painting his vision with smears of color. Hitoshi's heart is loud in his ears, drumming and pumping.

Hitoshi had spent many mornings running the same path, the path towards his dream, towards the gateway of his future. To UA. But now, it feels more like a death sentence. He is more than aware that one way or another, his life as he knows it will come to a halt.

Whether that is because he and Aiko have to leave, to get away. Whether they have to run. Or whether Aiko is already-

He can't think about that. He can't take it.

One way or another, Hitoshi knows that this is the end of the line. Whatever it takes.

Before the sun has slipped fully beyond the horizon, Hitoshi comes across the door. He stands in front of it, breathing heavily. It is tall and looming, concealing darkness Hitoshi has yet to know the contents of. It's terrifying.
