Being here without Meg around was miserable. Christine could admit that whole heartedly at this point, even after the incident.  Pathetically enough, it hadn't been too long since then. Only a week and a half.

She hadn't meant to upset her friend. She really hadn't. Sure, laying like that  had been awkward. But not in the way that she'd inadvertantly implied to her friend. The intimacy was surprisingly pleasant and almost natural. Having that realization while sober is what made it awkward.

She had a partner back home to and they were supposed to be working on their relationship. She had never felt that comfortable cuddling with Raoul, mostly because he insisted on spooning. He was always the big spoon and sometimes she wanted to lay in a different position all together.

She finally forced herself out of the hotel room and headed down the sidewalk, her bottom lip caught between her teeth. She had wasted so much time just moping. But even so she couldn't bring herself to care. She was pretty certain that this wasn't going to change her answer in tbe slightest. Marrying Raoul still didn't appeal to her in the slightest.

She wasn't entirely sure what she was going to do today. None of the places she passed seemed appealing. If she had Meg with her, she knew she would undoubtedly have fun. Of course she would. Meg had a way of making everything fun, even the most dull of tasks. But she has ruined that. She was broken out of her thoughts by someone calling her name.

She turned around quickly, nearly frowning when she realized it was just Antoinette, Meg's mother.

"Hm?" Christine hummed curiously, waiting for the older woman to catch up to her.  Once she had, she resumed walking, not wanting to impede other people from reaching their destinations.

"It's been so long since I've seen you. You've become quite beautiful." Antoinette informed almost stiffly. Despite this, Christine could tell she meant it. Compliments were never her style of parenting. She much prefered tough love.

Christine's cheeks flushed as a wave of awkwardness washed over her. She wished that she could simply greet her like a normal person. They were in public and she wasn't actually her mother. Anyone with eyes would be able to see that if they looked long enough.

"Thank you." She uttered quietly, though she was truly thankful for the praise. They lapsed into silence once more, walking side by side.

She couldn't complain. It was nice to have some form of company for the first time a in awhile. But something in her gut told her that their could possibly be ulterior motives involved in this particular instance.

"Why don't you swing by for dinner tonight? It would be nice to catch up and I'm sure Meg is just dying to see you again." Antoinette piped up, giving her a look that told her the older woman most definitely wouldn't be taking no for an answer.

Unfortunately, even if she wanted to deny the offer, she couldn't. Saying no was something she struggled with. It was a miracle that she had even managed to have the conversation that she had with Raoul. It probably helped that it hadn't been a truly straightforward no.

"I.. don't see what it could hurt." She answered slowly, inwardly cursing herself the whole time. The older Giry beamed, giving her directions to their home just in case she didn't remember how to get there. She was really laying the guilt on thick.

They parted ways a few moments later, Christine heading back to her hotel room

They parted ways a few moments later, Christine heading back to her hotel room. Now that she really had time to think about it, she was both looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measures.

Meg was horrified when her mother informed her that Christine would be joining them for dinner. She didn't want her to. Not after she had made her opinion on what they'd shared very well. The other woman was still her friend, but she needed time to get over the realization that it was definitely one sided.

But there was no arguing with her mother. She'd be accused of being rude and she'd have to explain why she was suddenly against the idea of seeing Christine again. She didn't want to know how her mother would respond to hearing about such things. She'd always been a pretty staunch supporter of the relationship between Raoul and Christine.

Closer to dinner, she ensured that she showered and put on the most dramatic make up she could without it being too much. She chose one of her black dresses and wore the star shaped necklace. Christine had gotten it for her on her birthday one year.

Perhaps subconciously she wanted to show Christine what she was missing out on. It might not affect the relationship in any way. It would make her feel a hell of a lot better, though.
