Having Christine back was something she'd only dreamed of in the past, unfortunately Meg knew that it wouldn't be permanent. France had never truly been home to her friend, or at least that had been her claim right before she left. She left with Raoul and unknowingly took her best friend's heart with her. However, that wasn't something she could hold against her.

Meg had been the one to fall in love and the one to hold it in. Even if she had said something, there was no promise that it would've changed anything. As far as she knew, Christine was only interested in men. Plus, she could never picture her returning her feelings even if she was into women. She wasn't pretty enough for someone as perfect as the other woman.

After working through her existential crisis, she rolled over to embrace Christine, interrupting the poor woman's nervous call of her name. She should've answered her immediately but she hadn't been able to do so, too surprised by the situation. She was quick to assure her that she was alright before launching into a run down of what happened since she'd been gone upon being prompted.

This had them both giggling, especially when she did her best to mimic her mother's voice during her retelling of an argument. Poor Andre had clearly forgotten why getting on her bad side was a horrible idea and Meg had almost felt bad about being amused, watching him curl in on himself like that. Almost was the keyword there.

As her laughter died off, Meg looked over at her best friend, concern suddenly making an appearance once again. She'd been talking about herself and her mother this whole time. She still had not a clue as to why Christine had come back, it couldn't be to see her as she had no guarantee that she still lived in this country.

"Can I ask what's been going on with you, Chrissy? You've been listening to me ramble on for awhile now. Surely you've gotten bored hearing me." Meg joked. She could've been laughing politely for all she knew. It wouldn't surprise her if that is exactly what it had been. Christine had never been the type to speak up unless she absolutely had to.

Christine seemed hesitant, the joy flickering and disappearing as soon as the attention was turned towards herself. It wasn't that she didn't want to tell Meg everything, it just that it was heavy and she didn't want to ruin her friend's good mood. "Are you sure you want to know, Meg?" She questioned quietly.

Meg nodded, reaching out to take her friend's hand. She toyed with Christine's fingers as she waited for her to answer, not quite sure if she should brace herself or not. It seemed bad but at the same time, it could be good news. Good news that she seemed terrified to tell for some reason.

"...I've been stuck doing the same thing and in love with the same man for five years. Our relationship was in shambles by6 year three and I still had to love him. Raoul proposed recently... and we had an argument. I'm here to spend our two month separation away from the mundane hellhole we call a home." Christine took a deep breath after unloading, something she only had the confidence to do after Meg took her hand.

She didn't mention if she'd be going back or not because she truly didn't know. All she knew was that she felt better after getting that off her chest. It felt good to have someone to complain to again- even if it still had to be prompted, just as it did when they were younger.

Meg remained silent, lost in an argument with herself. She wasn't sure if it was right for her to be upset that Raoul had wanted to marry Christine. She definitely knew it wasn't right for her be happy that they'd decided to separate, albeit temporarily. However... she could justify this with the fact that her friend had so clearly been unhappy anyways.

"You know what you need, Chrissy?! A night out, just the two of us! Get your hottest dress on at five and I'll meet you here. I'm not taking no for an answer!" Meg suddenly exclaimed, behaving exactly as she was clearly expected again. She managed a small smile when Christine giggled and agreed. It faded a few moments later after she left the hotel room.

She hoped this wasn't a mistake.
