"Hey, lil' sis" the noise startled the pensive mind of the youngest who seems to be lost in thought. Turning to her brother, Damon, Rei looked at the older in question.
"What do you want?" she said rather annoyed, arching her brow. The elder only looked at her expressionlessly which Rei found a bit disturbing.
"If you want to say something, just say it" she added.
The quiet Damon finally answered after a few seconds of silence, "I.. was relieved the issue with you and Rey got resolved.. and I hope you'll be friends with him from now on..?" the last part becoming more vague.
Rei didn't reply. Knowing that she only got forced to do it made her anxious of what to say. She didn't want to hurt her brother's feelings, but she isn't quite sure yet if she wanted that to happen.
Hearing no reply, Damon added, "I know it's all too sudden, you just apologized like an hour ago but.. I think great things will come if you just give him a chance."
"Then, what makes you think that he and I will ever be friends or even stand one another?" Rei said dubiously.
"Well, for one, you both have similar agendas in life; the goal to be the strongest. You both are very competitive and highly stubborn with your vision, you won't let anyone get in the way. Both of you are prodigies. I believe if you ever consider him, you'll definitely have a great dynamic." Damon mouthfully said.
"Dynamic? What dynamic? All I can see between us is incompatibility. I don't know what you're talking about." she huffed in irritation.
"You'll never know if you don't try, Rei. Also, didn't he say he liked to be your friend before? I'm sure you'll be a good match for each other" Damon mentioned in a matter of fact tone, winking and smiling at her.
The younger could only make a disgusting look on her face when he said they'll be great together. "Whatever, bro" she responded, as she excused herself to go to the restroom because nature's calling her.
"What is he blabbering about? It doesn't take a genius to realize that me and Rey are obviously not a match. I don't like him. He's such a child, calling himself a prodigy. Even if it's true - which I'm totally much better, he should act maturely about it and be a real man. He's absolutely not gonna be number one, that's for sure" Rei thought as she's walking.
As she kept moving her legs to her destination, she didn't notice that the entrance to the restroom had a low stair and with her constant thoughts distracting her from viewing her surroundings, her next step made her tripped and fall out of balance.
She yelped in surprise and closed her eyes, expecting the impact and to be face flat on the floor. However, before any of that can happen, an out of nowhere hand came flashing at her face, grabbing her jaw entirely, keeping her from connecting with the wooden floor and out of harm's way.
Rei, analyzing the situation quickly, regained her composure and stood from her almost mid-fall. Suddenly, a voice was heard.
"You should be more careful next time. If I wasn't here in time, you could've fallen face first to the ground." the voice said.
Turning to the person who said that, Rei almost rolled her eyes at her saviour. 'Of course it's him, fate really hates me, doesn't it?' she thought.
"Well, thank you then" she replied rather sarcastically. "But you could've catched me a little better than that, right tough guy? Really? By the face? Can you choose where you grab me first? Can't you at least be a little more light, softer, and more gentleman-ly like? Geez, out of all that you can hold, it's the face, like why-" before she can yap anything else however, something caught her off guard.
