A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER
Maya snuck out the window making sure that Powder was asleep, she'd been doing this every night since Silco took them in, Powder took to him a lot quicker then Maya did. But he still tried.
She slid down the alley, walking towards a familiar broken down building and snuck inside, surrounding her was her family, at least the family that couldn't leave.
"Hey Mylo" she said, speaking to the corpse she had dragged out from under the rubble. She stretched out next to him, grabbing the blue crystals that killed everyone around her.
"I wonder what someone could do with these" she gigged, tossing them in the air and juggling with them.
Maya was playing around with these, knowing potentially one mistake and she was dead, and yet she didn't even care.
"I know Mylo, I shouldn't fool around with things that kill me, but would it really be that bad" she said to her brother. Turning her head Maya faced a slowly deteriorating Vander "don't you get me started, look I have a new father now" she said tossing one of the gemstones to high.
In her head, Claggor screamed, and she acted before even thinking Maya sprinted over to where Vander was, some part of her brain still convinced he would protect her.
The blue stone fell and exploded on contact, sending her into the wall and creating a bruise where the last one had just healed.
"Oh Mylo" she whimpered tears slipping out as she crawled over to him and laid her head in his lap "tell me what to do now."
She was so involved in her fake conversation that she didn't notice when Sevika slipped away to tell Silco what she saw.
The next day Maya slipped out early, taking the same path she does everyday and not thinking about someone following her. She went in the same entrance and gathered the crystals, finding comfort in them some how. Maya took her original seat next to Mylo, zoning out as she spoke to him.
She always zoned out while talking to him, she spun the crystals in her finger and distracted herself until a wave of heat came over her and she looked up to Sevika standing over Vanders body with a match.
Both Claggors and Vanders bodies where aflame, Maya stared in horror as she heard their screams in her head.
Maya got up, she was going to find a way to put out the fire and stop the screaming in her head, but the second she got far enough away from her brother, he went up too.
"MYLO" she screamed and staggered as another voice shrieking got added into the mix. She only got another step before a pair of arms wrapped around her "it's alright Maya" Silco said holding her.
Powder was right behind him, all she saw was fire and rubble, she didn't realize it was the bodies of her family.
Maya fought against Silco but he didn't let her go until she finally collapsed "Maya, their dead, you need to be with us, Jinx and I" Silco said and she looked up confused "Jinx?"
Powder stepped forward and waved, "I'm Jinx" she said "no, your Powder" she got visibly annoyed "Powder died, I'm Jinx."
Powder voice entered the screaming in Mayas head and she groaned clutching it. Nobody realized what was going on they all thought she was dealing with the realization her family was dead.
"If my entire family is dead, then maybe I should be to" Maya stuttered watching as Silcos eyes widened, he went to grab her but she slammed the crystals in her hand together.
At the same time, across the city, two others where working with a crystal, showing people how it worked.
Instead of the crystals exploding on Maya, they followed what the others where being manipulated to do and shot all the energy into the air. But while the magic in Piltover slowly went back into the gems, the magic in Zaun went into the girls body, leaving her on the ground, not injured but surrounded by little ripples of electricity.
Silco stared as Maya got up dazed, her eyes now the same colour as the now dull crystals where.
"Maya" Jinx whispered watching as the girl she knew was now a weapon.
A/N This was kinda a chapter that's vital to the story but I didn't know about posting but did anyways cause it would explain why Maya has powers and can do weird things in the book that others can't. I don't actually know what happened to the body's but I made it up, I don't think Silco would burn Vanders body though.
