Danny POV:
Alaina is thankfully getting her memory back but it's messing with her. She has dreams every night now and I have no idea how to help. I just want this to be over for her.
Cheyenne was right. We can't just sit on our thumbs waiting for Ian to surface or waiting on Laney to remember where he took her. She might not have even seen where he took her. In most of her memories, it was dark which means she was most likely blind folded on the ride there.
I decided to run this by Ryder before I brought it up to Laney.
I knocked on the office door and waited.
"Come in." Ryder called out.
I walked in and sat across from him.
"Hope I'm not inturuptin'." I said. "Nah man, I was just about to leave." He replied.
"I thought about what Chey said the other day." I told him.
Ryder sighed and looked at the papers on his desk before handing them to me.
"So have I." He told me.
I looked down at the papers and saw arrest records, court hearings, and even restraining orders, all from different women.
"Christ." I mumbled.
"We can't wait anymore, dude. We have to get out there and find him. I knew it was bad, but I had no idea it was more than just Laney." Ryder said. "I didn't either. Why wouldn't she say anything?" I asked. "She most likely didn't know, man. She would have said somethin' if she did." He told me.
I knew I had to talk to her about this, but I really didn't want to. She's been through enough shit already. She doesn't need any more shit put onto her.
"Now what?" I asked. "We talk to Laney." Ryder replied.
I sighed and looked down. Great.
For once I was dreading going to see my old lady. I didn't want to break this news to her, but it was my job as her old man to be honest with her.
I walked into the apartment quietly since Laney has been so jumpy lately.
"Babe?" I called out.
"Livin' room!" She answered.
I took a deep breath and walked into the living room where she sat on the couch.
She smiled when she saw me, but it faded as soon as she saw the look on my face.
"What's wrong?" She asked me. "Ryder looked into Ian. There is a lot more than we originally thought." I told her.
Alaina POV:
More? How much more could there be?
"What do you mean? It gets worse?" I asked, timidly.
"He has a rap sheet about a mile long. Arrest records, court hearins'." He told me.
He's holding back.
"And?" I asked. "You aren't the only woman to file a protection order on him. There are multiple women he's stalked that did the same." Danny told me.
Multiple?
"Oh God." I said and rested my face in my hands.
Danny sat next to me and rubbed my back lightly.
"We'll get him. We will. We can't wait for your memory any longer, baby. Now that we know all this, we have to make a move." He told me.
I took a deep breath and nodded slowly.
"Okay. I trust you."
