Y/n POV:
I was sitting in the living room with a cup of tea and a book, when I hear abuelo come down the stairs.
"Hola Flor, how was it?" He asked as he walked in. "It was great." I said with a sad smile.
"I've been in the village a few times, everyone is so kind!" He said happily and I smiled at him.
"Well, I'm gonna cook us dinner." He said and left the living room. I sighed and closed my book.
I just stared out the big window, where I could see the main road that led to casita. I saw a small market and decided I could buy some gifts for the Madrigals.
I stood up and left my book in the living room. "Abuelo? Im going to the market." He turned his head and gave a nod before continueing cooking.
He stood with large amount of difficulty but he insisted he made dinner.
I looked down and walked away. "It's not going well." I sighed again and walked out the door towards the market.
I looked around for a while, but I didn't know what they liked. "Great, now I can't find a gift!" I was so frustrated I didn't notice Luisa standing behind me.
"Uh, y/n, you okay?" She asked and I jumped. "Oh Luisa hola! Yeah I'm totally fine!" I said with a fake smile and she raised an eyebrow.
"Really? Doesn't seem like it." She said and I dropped my smile. "Well, it was supposed to be a suprise, but I was going to buy some gifts for you and your family, I just can't figure out what." She chuckled.
"Y/n, why would you buy us a gift for just doing our job, no one has ever done that." She said with a raised eyebrow. I just stared at her. "No one gave them a gift before?"
"Well, I just wanted to thank you all what you were doing, cause you know, it's a lot of work to keep a whole village happy and the time I've been here, I have really appreciated it." I rambled at bit and I saw Luisa looking like she didn't know what to say.
We just stared awkwardly before she crushed me in a hug. "You know y/n you really are the sweetest girl that ever set foot here." She mumbled and I gave an awkward smile while hugging back the best I could.
"I guess you don't get these comments often huh?" She sat me down again. "Only a thank you or something, but that's about it." She said sadly.
I now know what Camilo means with everything he said about you." She mumbled and I got red and she laughed. "I shouldn't have said that." She rubbed her arm and chuckled.
"Well why don't you come with me and you can pick a present for yourself? I also need help with your family their presents." I said and she smiled.
"Are you sure y/n? You don't have to." She asked and I smiled. "I insist Luisa." I said and she looked happy. "Your lucky I'm done with my chores then." She said with a big smile and I clapped my hands. "Great! Let's go!" I grabbed her hand and we walked on the market for a while.
While we were looking for presents, Luisa told me about how she feels pressured because she's the strongest and everyone expects her to be strong at all times. I felt bad when she said that and I gave a small hug before we continued.
We were done shopping and I got Luisa a beautiful patterned hammock, so she could relax. She looked very happy and she thanked me over and over again.
I got señora Julieta some extra pans, she told me she was running short, I got señora Pepa a small camera. That way if no one is around to calm her, she could look at some happy photos.
I got abuela Alma a new candle holder, it was patterned with some butterflies, that way it would match with the candle itself.
I got Mirabel some new stitching supplies, like some needles and fabric. I got Isabela and Dolores a new pair of earrings and I got Camilo another ruana, he seems to like them.
I got señor Félix a yellow umbrella and señor Agustin a basket, so he could carry señora Julieta's food with him.
I got Antonio a new animal plush, it was a big toucan, after his jaguar they are probably his favourite animals. "Luisa, I have to get home again, I'll bring the gifts tomorrow, alright?" I said and she nodded before hugging me again.
"Gracias y/n, your too kind." She mumbled and I smiled and patted her back. "It's no problem!" I waved her goodbye with all the presents in my hand.
I opened the door in a not so fashionable way and closed it behind me. "Abuelo I'm home!" He carefully walked out the kitchen, while clinging on his walking stick for dear life.
"Do you need to sit down abuelo?" I asked and he shook his head. "No flor, I'm fine. What is all that stuff in your hands?" I looked down completely forgetting my hands were full.
"Oh, these are some gifts for the Madrigals." I said happily and I sat down all the gifts on the table in the living room.
I heard abuelo chuckle before coughing again and I looked at him concerned. "I'm fine flor, I'm gonna finish dinner." I helped him get to the kitchen. "Do you want me to help?" I asked with a frown.
"No, I can do it myself." He sounded a bit more irritated now, so I decided to leave him be. "Vale abuelo." I said and I walked away to the living room to continue reading.
The next day:
I woke up and immidiately got out of bed and put on a simple dress with a light yellow skirt and a white top, with a few yellow flowers stitched in it.
I sprinted down the stairs and I didn't see abuelo. I frowned and looked at the time.
"It's nine o'clock, he should be awake right now."
I sighed and walked in the kitchen and sat down on a chair, just thinking. I don't know how long I've been sitting there, cause I heard someone knock and I shot up in my seat.
I speedwalked to the front door and opened it. "Girasol! Your already awake I see." I saw Camilo standing in the door opening and I smiled. "For a while now yeah, come in!" I opened the door further to see he had a plate of señora Julieta's food with him.
I closed the door and I led him towards the kitchen. "Your house looks amazing y/n, you and your abuelo did a great job." He said and I smiled.
He put the plate of food down on the table and looked at me with a concerned expression. "¿Estás bien?" He asked and I just nodded.
"Where's señor Arturo?" He said and I looked at him. "Well he's still sleeping." He nodded and walked towards me.
"He's gonna be okay girasol, my tía her food has never dissapointed so don't worry." He said and I looked up at him with hopeful eyes.
"Come on, let's wake señor Arturo." He said and we walked upstairs. I knocked on his door, but no answer.
I opened the door to see him still sleeping. I tiptoed towards him and gently shook him awake. "Abuelo, wake up." I said and I saw him open his eyes.
"I'll be down in a second flor." He mumbled and I nodded before leaving the room. I saw Camilo leaning against the doorframe and he looked at me with a concerned expression, before he followed me downstairs.
