Y/N POV
Prom was just around the corner and you still didn't have a date. The worse thing about it was that no one had even asked you, plus you didn't have a dress either. It was lunchtime at school and you were sitting at the table with my best friend and Andrew. Them two were fine regarding the prom, bfn had a boyfriend so that makes her life 100% times easier and well Andrew was Andrew. Everyday this week he has had at least 5 girls come up to him and ask him to the prom. Like right now.

Two girls in my year were approaching our table ready to ask Andrew to prom like usual. Rolling my eyes and looking away distracting myself with the poster in the way. Don't get me wrong I'm happy Andrew is having people ask him to prom but deep down I want him to ask me. We have been best friends as long as I can remember and we did everything together, from playing outside to do being each other's partners in class. Everything. Sighing I revert my eyes back to the scene unfolding in front of me.
"Hey Andrew I wanted to as you a question" one of the girls said
"Oh hey what's up" he replied smiling putting all his attention in her.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the prom with me" she said smiling and slightly blushing.
"I'm sorry but I'm planning on asking someone else" he said apologetically
"Oh, that's fine. Who ever it is, is very lucky to be asked by you" she said sweetly and walked away.
Who's he going to ask? When is he going to ask them? Prom is like a two days away? When was he going to tell me this?. All these questions running through my head I hadn't realised Andrew was trying to get my attention.
"Hey, y/n" he said nudging me out of my trance
"Huh" I said back
"Do u wanna go into town tonight, I need to get some bits" Andrew asked
"Um sure" I replied smiling. I couldn't stop thinking about who he's going to ask. Who was she? Is she prettier than me? What does she have I don't? How well does she know him?

Soon enough the bell for the end of lunch went and we got up threw away out food and walked to our final class. English. Luckily our teacher was lovely and let us talk and do work at the same time. I was sitting next to Andrew as usual and had bfn in front of us, who was sitting with her boyfriend.
"So Andrew who are you asking to prom?" Bfn popped up out of no where
"Oh, one of the prettiest girls in the school, she is so kind and considerate and puts everyone else first" he said beaming. My heart sank. Who was he talking about?. Frowning slightly I carried on with my work trying to not cry.
"Have you got a date yet y/n" Andrew nudged me laughing.
"Not yet, I probably won't go" I said sadly
"I'm sure there are loads of people wanting to go with you" Andrew encouraged
"I don't see a line" I said sarcastically
"The right one hasn't come around yet" he said whispering into my ear.

A little while later the bell went and we all left. I walked to my locker to drop my books off and got ready to go to town with Andrew not before saying goodbye to bfn.

Andrew POV
I've been planning on asking y/n to the prom for a while now but haven't found the right time. Hopefully tonight I can ask her. I could see how she was feeling when I was talking about the 'girl' I was going to ask, without her knowing I was talking about her.

Walking into town we talk about everything and anything. We got drinks and goofed around for a little while until the sun started to go down.
"How about we go to our spot to watch the sun set? " I suggested (part 1 of ask y/n to prom is a go)
"Sure" she replied and we slowly made our was up the hill to watch the sun set. I was beautiful all shades of orange, red and pink lit up the whole sky, the faintness of the sun going down in the distance and the blues turning into the night approaching. Sitting down we carry on talking and look out at the sunset.
"It's so pretty isn't it" y/n said
"Yeah, nearly as beautiful as you" I replied (part 2 of ask y/n to prom)
"Oh stop, don't say that. The girl your asking to prom will be jealous" y/n said and then immediately covered her mouth. "I didn't mean to say that" she added and looked away.
" I don't think she will be that jealous" I laughed
"Why not? If I recall you said she was the prettiest girl in the school, I'm far from that Andrew" she said sadly
"That's what you think but not everyone thinks like you y/n. In my eyes you are the prettiest girl in the school. I wanted to ask you to the prom but couldn't find the right moment but I guess I have now" I said chuckling
"Yes" y/n said smiling
"Yes to what?" I asked
"Yes I will go to prom with you Andrew" she said moving closer to me and hugging me. The plan worked. Staying up there for a little longer until the sun went completely, we finally made our way down and I walked y/n home.
"Thankyou again Andrew, see you tomorrow" y/n said and kissed my cheek and quickly ran inside. Smiling like a dummy I walk home not before doing a quick victory dance.
