The Magic Knights were shocked to hear that the capital was under attack. Shiren used his stone magic to create a model of the capital. Y/N whistled. impressed at the model, 'Wish I could make something like that.' The Captains began discussing how they should divide their forces. However, Asta interrupted, "What the hell are you all waiting for? There are people getting hurt out there. We need to go help." Klaus yelled at him as he ran out, "What exactly do you plan to do? We don't have enough information. And you can't even detect mana." Asta yelled, "I'll go where there's the most noise." Leopold smirked, "This is good. Show me the extent of your abilities. Wait for me my rival." He then started chasing after Asta. Y/N let out a sigh, "Those two are idiots." Fuegoleon then took charge and began telling the other Knights where they should head. Y/N was paired with Noelle and Fuegoleon. Y/N climbed onto the Captain's flame beast and the three of them rode to the capital.
Y/N looked around at the monsters that were attacking the capital. Noelle gasped, "This is awful." Y/N nodded, "Yup. Well, that's to be expected. Someone would have to be pretty messed up to even think of attacking the capital in the first place. They must have done something to the mages that were supposed to be on guard. That would explain how they were able to invade the place." Fuegoleon said, "Very good deduction. I see that you're just as smart as my sister said." Y/N looked at the captain in shock, "I thought that you had forgotten who I was." Fuegoleon smirked, "You left quite an impression the first time we met. I've never met anyone who could yell at my sister and survive to tell the tell." Y/N chuckled, "Well, it seems that Leopold forgot about me. But that makes sense. I figured that he had the attention span of a goldfish." Fuegoleon chuckled but went stern as the three of them landed.
Y/N had called out a broadsword and was slashing through the enemies. Some of them were able to revive. Y/N thought to himself, "They must be powered by mana. I'm guessing that they can only survive as long as they have a supply of mana to draw on. If I keep attacking them, they'll eventually wear out and collapse on their own. But it's better to be safe." He opened his grimoire, "Sword Magic: Exitium Gladio." A black, curved sword emerged from the grimoire. Y/N grabbed it and filled it with mana. He then launched an attack from the sword, resulting in an orb of destructive energy being launched at the enemy. Once they touched the orb, the corpses began to disintegrate. Y/N continued to launch more orbs of destruction but was forced to return the sword to his grimoire when he almost ran out of energy, 'Just like I thought. Using that sword constantly drains all my mana and causes a strain on my body. Better use it only in emergencies.' He turned to see that Noelle was using the spell she learned in Saussy to protect a young girl. Y/N saw that one of the corpses was about to attack her, but he threw his broadsword at it, causing it collapse. Noelle turned to see Y/N take the sword out of the corpse. He turned to her, "Just focus on defending the girl. I'll take care of the corpses. Don't worry. I won't let anything hurt you." Noelle blushed slightly before turning away, "You better not." Y/n continued to strike down the other corpses that approached. As more approached, he took out a different sword, "Sword Magic: Gladius Flammae." The red sword appeared from the grimoire. Y/N instantly began slashing at the corpses, setting them on fire with the power of the sword. One of the corpses punched the sword and forced him to stumble back. He crashed into a wall. The corpse tried to attack him again, but he slashed it with his broadsword.
That was when he heard someone yelling.
He ran back to where the others had been fighting and saw that Fuegoleon was on the ground with an arm missing, bleeding out. Leopold grabbed the criminal that was controlling the corpses, but the man laughed at him. Noelle went to Fuegoleon to try to stop the bleeding. Y/N rushed to him and sent the two swords back into his grimoire and pulled out a new one, "Sword Magic: Doloris Gladius Homicidii." A thin sword appeared from the grimoire. He grabbed the sword and plunged into the wound. Noelle asked, "What are you doing?" Y/N replied, "This sword takes away pain and helps the healing process. Just give it a few minutes."
As he began the healing process, several more enemies appeared and began attacking. Asta and Leopold began attacking them and defending them. Y/N continued to focus as much of his mana on healing Fuegoleon. After a few minutes, he sensed an immense amount magic power coming their way. He looked up to see that the other Magic Knights had come after combining their magic. Y/N was impressed. He had heard that none of the Magic Knight squads got along due to their rivalry in securing a higher rank. As he turned to see what was going on, he was attacked from behind and knocked out. Before he blacked out, he felt something sticky grabbing him and one of the enemy mages stating that they were the Eye of the Midnight Sun.
