There were two names you were bound to know if you've studied in Hwayang High- Kim Jennie and Dong Sicheng.

The "it-girl" and her it friend.

Who would have thought such a prestigious school of such a xenophobic country would be ruled by two foreigners? No one. But beauty was a universal language, it seemed, as was wealth, and they were blessed with both.

Kim Jennie descended from a line of royalty and her pockets were pretty much loaded with old money. Her family's network was incredible, there was really nothing she couldn't reach just lifting a pinky. She was the type of girls you really don't want to be compared to, trust me.

There was no need to talk about Sicheng now, is there? Sole heir to China's leading eCommerce company. Most eligible bachelor. Man was FINE in all caps.

Jennie and Sicheng pretty much grew up together, and one could say their friendship was akin to brotherhood. There was no secret Jennie had that Sicheng did not know and vice-versa, but despite all of that, they were about as different as chalk and cheese.

The it-girl was reserved and curt, whereas her best friend was a total charmer with his pearly whites and boyish grins. One wouldn't exactly describe Sicheng as loud, but no one in their right mind would call him quiet.

Everyone speculated about their friendship- were they really just friends? They were so tight-knit and exclusive it sure raised brows.

Now where does our main lead come into the picture?

Lee Soojin was an all-star athlete. The sports field was her domain, and she ruled pretty damn mercilessly. There was nothing sports-related that she didn't ace at and that was something she was proud of.

All school athletes seemed to sort-of know each other here, and for someone with Soojin's status, it wasn't too unbelievable to hear she was at the very least on friendly terms with Basketball Captain Dong Sicheng.

They were acquaintances on a head-nodding, project-working type of relationship, if you have to ask for details, and there was nothing more or less to that. Soojin had her own crowd to entertain and she had no intentions muddling into the whole Kim Jennie and Dong Sicheng circle. It was more effort than what was worth. Being acquaintances was more than enough, thank you very much.

"Someone outside just threatened me to stay away from you."

Soojin looked up at the familiar voice, arching a brow. "And what did you say?"

"Nothing," Sicheng lifted a shoulder and lowered it back down in a single fluid motion. "He ran away when I turned to look at him." The corners of his lips twitched and he offered the girl a crooked grin- looking beautiful despite doing bare minimum. Soojin wasn't gonna lie or deny, this man was a work of art. "Seriously, though, keep your admirers on a leash."

"Back to you, Dong," she jerked her chin in a general direction, "If looks could kill, I'd be dead and a few hundred feets under." There was no missing the nasty looks shot at Soojin for being at such close proximity to the school's Prince Charming.

They'd gotten used to this though, it happened everytime they needed to work on a project together.

"We can go over to mine, if this is too distracting," Sicheng offered helpfully. "Jen's there too, but she wouldn't mind."

"Are you trying to annihilate me?" Soojin deadpanned. "Let's just finish this ASAP and get the hell out of here."

Jennie wasn't at Sicheng's manor that day and time, coincidentally. She was roaming about the same library Soojin and Sicheng were in, she just didn't run into them until they were done and saying their goodbyes.

"Who's that?" she peered over Sicheng's shoulder, slinging an arm about him, scaring the living wits out of the Chinese boy who'd not expected her to be here obviously.

He nearly screamed, which would have been a funny sight to see, but too bad he held that in.

"Jesus Christ, Kim," he snapped, holding a hand to his chest, "A little warning next time, please?"

She scanned him from head to toe, then said very simply, "No."

He rolled his eyes.

"Who's that?" she repeated, watching the back of the girl fade into a speck, interest spiking. She'd never seen Sicheng speak to anyone half this levelly. He wasn't flirting, he wasn't putting up some fake-ass facade, he was talking to her so...normally.

"Lee Soojin," he replied, sweeping his eyes towards the direction the girl walked off in. "Track champion. Pretty, isn't she?"

Jennie averted her gaze, "She's alright."

Soojin was more than just alright, actually. And Jennie was just about to notice that.
