"So she agreed to help you?" Yangyang summed up the situation in 6 words, taking key points and only key points from the 1 hour rant Soojin had gone on. "So goal accomplished! What's the problem now?"
The Lee girl looked appalled, "The problem is, Kim Jennie agreed!" It seemed saying the problem out aloud did not take any stress off her shoulders because she started freaking out even more. "Kim Jennie, bestie. The Kim Jennie. The Queen, her Royal majesties herself, Yangs. It's a big thing! Am I expected to- What? Dress better? Do more makeup? What- what am I supposed to do?"
Yangyang seemed to find this funny. "Just be yourself, Lee. You're cool enough as it is, don't become a wannabe."
And so, Soojin tried her best to act natural the next day. Well, as natural as someone who was wearing a brand new limited edition Nike Airs could act, at least. No one looked at her any different until P.E that day.
They were running laps for warm-ups and Sicheng who couldn't give a shit caught up with her on her final lap. He was still taking his own sweet time finishing his first lap and was rather amused anyone was really trying for this class, but track kids would always be of a different breed.
"Nice shoes," he commented, actually running to keep on parr with her now. "Jennie loves pink." He paused, taking a second glance at the girl's shoes, "And white, of course."
Soojin eyed him strangely, "And?"
His brows creased in confusion.
"And what else does she like?" the Lee girl elaborated.
Surprise ghosted across Sicheng's face, but it was gone as quickly as it came, leaving Soojin to wonder if she'd simply imagined it. He broke into a strangely self-satisfied beam, "You asked just the right person!"
Of course Soojin knew that. If Sicheng did not know, no one else in the World would.
"Dogs, milk-flavoured ice cream, being pampered, she's a brat honestly," Sicheng raised a finger. "But don't tell her I said that." With a wink, Sicheng sped up, completing his first round at last.
Now Soojin was left feeling kinda flustered. Why did she ask that again? Why did she need to know again? Wasn't the plan just to get Jennie to hit on her to frighten the other boy off? Nothing about herself needing to take so much interest was said, so why did she ask again?
Speaking of Jennie...
The chair opposite Soojin was drawn during a lonely lunch and without permission, the other party had sat down. "Send me your timetable."
Kim Jennie had clearly never heard of being respectful or having some decent manners, because her lack thereof was appalling and to an extent that was almost abhorrent.
What? Couldn't she at least say please? And what happened to some basic pleasantries before cutting straight to the chase?
"Um, excuse me, but what?" Soojin frowned. She was displeased, very much so. But she still tried for a cordial expression, because unlike Jennie, she had some manners.
The other girl clicked her tongue impatiently, then stretched a hand out to pick Soojin's phone from the table and doing it for herself. "There," she flashed the screen to the shell-shocked athlete moments later. "I saved my number for you too. You're welcome."
She stood, chair creaking behind her. "Tell Liu Yangyang not to waste his trip today," she paused. "And every day after, actually." She looked at the Lee girl levelly. "I don't need someone else picking my girlfriend up in my stead."
Now, tell Soojin how the fuck she was supposed to not turn redder than a ripe tomato after hearing that.
