A/N – try listening to this song while you read this chapter and imagine you walking on the streets of London, all dressed up in the university's uniform, a beige hat on your head, wearing round chic glasses, rushing to get to your classes on time. I will make it Y/N's theme, like the theme that plays when a character makes his big entrance in the animes.
The streets of London city in the morning were as busy as always. There were carriages everywhere, taking the busy people who rode on them to their workplaces, people running from one store to another to buy groceries, people having an encounter at a cafe, some fellows just taking a walk, nobles, commoners....On the same streets could be seen a man in his early 20s, dressed in a student uniform, that could be recognised as belonging to Durham University. The said man was in a rush to catch the train that would take him to Durham at his classes. Approaching the train station the student stopped and took a moment to catch his breath. He bent down, put his hands on his knees and still sweating he said:
,,I really hope I will make it on time. Professor Moriarty won't spare me if I'm late again to his lectures..."
~Time Skip~
Strolling the university halls at an elegant pace B/N saw a group of students chatting in the hallway. Then, one of them took notice of him and said:
- Oh, good morning B/N. You got here exactly at the perfect moment.
- Good morning Harry. What, are holding an emergency meeting on the hallways again?
- Exactly. We were just talking about how will our last year as seniors turn out to be, said Harry melacholically
- Well, gotta party while you can. Today you are a youthful college student and tomorrow you have full time responsabilities, your parents already planning for you an arranged marriage with ,,god-knows-who" lady from a noble family and then you wake up with five kids from her, said B/N rolling his eyes.
- God, that's so deep, said one of them softly.
- Look, B/N, you don't have to scare us like that. We know what's waiting for us in the future, said Harry sarcastically. Better tell me, who is your coordinator for your final project?
- Moriarty..., said B/N as softly that you could barely hear it.
- Moriartyyy?!? shouted all three of them in unison.
-Shhh! Keep your voice down. It's not a gossip that everyone in Durham needs to know, emphasized B/N as he put his index finger to his mouth as a sign for them to shut their mouths.
-But, but.... how? How did you manage to have him as your coordinator? questioned Harry with a look of puzzlement on his face.
- What are you talking about Harry? I managed to get him as my coordinator because I asked him to, like any normal student. I went to the faculty room and when I asked he simply said ,, Of course L/N, that would be my pleasure".
- Well, when did you asked him? I asked at the end of may and he said that he would've been thrilled to coordinate me if his list wasn't already full...said Harry with a look of disappointment on his face. You aren't even that good at math. I got into top ten at the previous exams and still he chose you, who barely got ranked on the fortieth position?
- Tough luck Harry. I asked him at the beginning of may, said B/N walking past Harry and putting a comforting hand on his shoulder.
- I understand B/N, it's no big deal. Hey, do you want to hang out later? We really could use some beers after classes, asked Harry with excitement.
- Yeah, maybe. See ya later boys...
B/N wasn't really happy with the way Harry and his comrades treated him. He has enough disapproval at home and he was hoping that at least his friend would be happy if he found out that B/N is receiving help from one of the best teachers that existed in Durham University. He has already top marks in every subject, so why was he so upset that professor Moriarty could not take him in?
As B/N made his way to the in which the class was being held, he opened the door and at the front desk was standing a man in his early 20s with blond hair and when he turned in B/N's direction his striking scarlet eyes bore directly into the beautiful pair of eyes that belonged to B/N.
- My, my, what do we have here? To which event do I owe the pleasure of seeing you this early for my class L/N?
- Well, I got invited at a gathering by some friends. I've got some beers pending and I can't drink them if I'm in detention again doing math problems, said B/N triumphantly.
- I see, that would be indeed quite inconvenient, said the blond man taking his index finger to his chin in a contemplatively manner.
- I was joking. Truth is, I was very disappointed in myself for always running late to your classes sir. You've done so much for me, even agreeing to consult me for my final project, and yet, I've done nothing but to always turn out late to your classes. I am truly sorry professor Moriarty, said B/N as he bowed apologetically in front of him.
- There is no need for apologies L/N. I held you fully accountable for your misbehaving conduct. I put you in detention after-school more times that I could remember, and trust me, I can remember a lot, said professor Moriarty as he chuckled. Take a seat please, the class starts in five minutes and your colleagues should be there in one minutes or two, he said as he started to write some math problems on the board.
As the conversation ended your peers started to show up one by one, entering the large , just like the professor said they would. You never guessed how he was capable of predicting things so accurately. You took a seat and listened carefully throughout the whole lecture. Math wasn't always your favourite subject, but watching him teaching so passionately made you want to give your best.
After the class was over you stopped by the teachers desk, and while he was organising his papers you said:
- Excuse me, professor Moriarty. There is something else that I would like to discuss with you if you will allow me.
- Of course L/N. You have all my attention, said Moriarty as he smiled at him.
- Well, I finished the theoretical part for my diploma project and I was hoping that I could use some feedback from your sir, said B/N slightly rubbing his cheek with his index finger.
- I see...I would love to assist you, but today I made some plans with my brothers and I find quite hard to cancel. How about you come tomorrow after-school and we revise it together?
- Yes sir, tomorrow shall be then. Well, see you tomorrow professor Moriarty, said B/N as he took his bag to leave.
- Enjoy your time with your friends. Oh, and L/N? asked Moriarty like some kind of revelation just had strucked him.
- Yes? Asked B/N as he was about to exit the room.
- Don't be late. You know, I also want to discuss with you some important matters, remarked professor Moriarty as he looked intensely at him.
If the gaze that professor Moriarty gave to B/N at that time could kill, B/N would've been dead and buried at that time. The only thing that he could do was greeting the professor one more time and awkwardly exiting the amphitheater, even bumping into the door. B/N turned around to give the professor an ,,I'm ok" look and then exited properly. Of course William James Moriarty was quite amused with his student's behaviour and as soon as he knew B/N could not hear him, he put his index finger on his chin, started to chuckle and said:
- Mister B/N L/N you say? This could turn out to be very interesting...
