These Rainy Nights (Poem)

14 3 3

These rainy nights I dwell upon,
Wishing you were still here.

I lurk in the night,
Staring out the window,
Watching the droplets,
As they slide and roll,
Down the window pane.

Fast pacing.
Wishing, praying that you were here with me.
Just you being there would be enough for me.
We would never have to say anything at all,
Just knowing that you were right next to me would be enough.

My friends ask if I'm alright.
I lie.
I lie because how would they feel if they knew I was not fine?
What would they think of me?
Of you?

These rainy nights without you are some of the hardest I've ever had to see.
And each night, I dwell at the rain,
Slipping down my face,
Wishing you were still here.
